Most of the threads on this site with respect to customer service are normally followed by a good rant, using words like “crap”, “nonexistent” and suchlike. Normally well-deserved I might add.

I’ve recently been looking for a radar detector mount to replace my home made jobbie and Bykey Cop suggested I have a look at www.motorcycleradar.com. They had a multi-purpose radar/GPS/Mobile phone mount so I ordered one over the ‘net. The first bit of good news is that it’s a superb bit of engineering using machined alloy with an adjustable Teflon universal joint. However, the truly staggering thing was that I ordered it in the middle of last week and it arrived from the USA on Saturday.

I guess that sets the standard for everyone else to follow and have no problem putting a plug in for these guys with service like that! :2thumbsup

There's a message in there eh? Kiwi's just don't seem to get it tho.

Yep as strange as it may seem, when I have ordered stuff from the states it normally arrives faster than something domestic.

When I got my leathers from california, it took 5 days from when I paid to when they arrived (which included a weekend). They also had to go through customs etc. This isn't the only thing that has arrived very quickly.

Yeh. Back protector from the UK, 4 days. Knee armour from Motomail, 2 months.

Some of the UK suppliers are plain crap, just like anywhere else I guess. I buy a lot of my accessories from www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk/. A highly personal service, and an honest opinion about product quality. Average delivery time is a week from ordering.

I bought a TPS and two camchain tensioners from a guy in the UK - they arrived in less than a week.

Contrast that with the local (crap, as usual) Honda dealers: more than twice the price, 3 weeks ex-Japan. It would've been quicker to order them via a mate in Australia, or would've ordered them from his local Honda dealer, who would've ordered them from Japan: 2 weeks, and about 30% cheaper. Must be a different Honda in Japan... :Pokey:
There are some very good Kiwis who DO understand customer service, though. Apart from Kerry at Motohaus, and Mike at Mt Eden M?C, there's these people I'd like to acknowledge:

Big UPS to Mike Pinfold in Rotovegaus, who I bought our intercom from. Now there's a man who gives excellent customer service. He opened his shop and waited hours for us to turn up, then helped us for about 30 minutes. All for a $117 sale.

Another big UPS to Kerrie at MSW. Because I got too fat (relatively speaking), my fly in my leather pants broke. If I wanted, she could've fixed it today, but instead it'll take 24 hours. BTW - Jacqui Madelin (SP?) was in there getting a suit made.

So, I rode around at lunchtime with no pants on, and no gloves, and it felt GOOOOOOD....
