Ulster GP 08 - Anstey best in Ulster GP practice

Bruce Anstey was fastest in two classes and second in another during practice for Saturday's Ulster GP at Dundrod.

The flying Kiwi topped the Superbike standings on his Suzuki with a lap speed of 119.20mph to pip Adrian Archibald and Cameron Donald.

Anstey took advantage of the drying conditions to post the fastest lap of the day - 128.95 in the Superstock.

He was second to Ian Lougher in the Supersport 600 while William Dunlop has the best time in the 250 class.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 1030 BST on Saturday.

I might be missing something here (the weather conditions they spoke about, perhaps?), but look at the 600s vs the 1000s speeds. And then look at the 250 speeds!

Not really.

The 250's are full on race bikes - think GP's - whilst the 600's are little more than (well) tuned road bikes and the superbikes are big heavy monsters on twisty, bumpy public roads. Good racing though.

Good to see the Dunlop brothers doing so well.

Following on torrential rainfall, organisers were left with a difficult decision to cancel today's Ulster Grand Prix at the Dundrod circuit in Northern Ireland.

Despite early hopes of the weather improving and the organisers delaying proceedings until just after lunch, Clerk of the Course Noel Johnstone confirmed that despite his best efforts to try and postpone racing until tomorrow, it wasn't possible and announced the cancellation of this year's races.

But the Superstock were fastest of all, so was probably track conditions at the time. Could've been the full moon though...
