Right you people, since the last one was such a riot we should be making the most of this lovely after-work weather and have another get together. This time with maybe a little less gas-bagging and more riding!
OK People, because you're all so slack, here is a preliminary time/date/location. State your yay/nays.
Thursday 3rd Feb. Meet 6:30/7pm. Mission Bay car park. (Next to the sea, opposite BK etc.)

Last time we all got together and had a chat at BK for quite a while heh, then went for a group cruise through town which was an absolute ball, then back to mission bay for a drink and a relax at one of the cafe's to chat again.
Great chance to meet your fellow 09 Kiwibikers. When people confirm that the dates ok i'll add it to the events calendar.

Aww mate, the Guzzi is a write-off, to think I destroyed such a honey of a bike will live with me forever.
A Volvo [ what else ?? ] turned right, right in front of me on the SH 1 near Dairy Flat on Christmas day of all times. No indicator, as you will have guessed.
Me, well 2 days in critical care with a zillion tubes and shit comming out of everywhere.
Complex fracture [ well 4 actually] of the pelvis, so no walkies for 2 or more months. And more metal plates and screws. Might need water wings next time I go swimming just to keep afloat.
4 broken ribs, and 2 lungs full a holes from said ribs.
And just when I was getting over it a bit, my immune system shut down, and I got the worst case of Shingles ever, look like the elephant man.
Still , life goes on, still got the Honda, but I better put a dust cover over it for a while.... :spudwave:

Hey Dodge, did pretty much the same thing as you (with a few more fractures in my pelvis, knee, ankle etc for good measure), mate my sympathy goes out to you. I wouldn't wish a fractured pelvis on my worst enemy. Take care of yourself and knit quick!

We should do. I'm starting a new job this week so I can even consider a meeting time yet till I know whats going on with work.
Looks like we'll have a big turnout again.
Ratty: There'll only be one big group of bikers in Mission Bay that evening. Even then, someone is bound to have their tshirt on. In the meantime you can check out the latest ride pics and learn what bike turn up. Eg my Balius (Posh Tourer took a good pic). in the novice ride thread.

Hey
was thinking, if it's just a short blat, what about goin to see the views up the top of Mt Eden..??
head up Queen St, hook a right at the top, cruise K Rd, across Newton bridge, right at the end, past Mt Eden bikes, then up the hill.. then back again.. be a 20 min ride each way, let the tourist gloat at the bikes.. something to do I guess

Top of Mt Eden sounds promising.
Pluses:
No security
No cameras (other than tourists)
Adequate parking
Large burnout pad
Minuses:
Witnesses present
Only one exit in case of police attendance
Maybe we could get together and put up a prize for the first person to ride their bike to the bottom of the crater and up again?
My money (if i had some) would be on Motu and his trials bike.

I'll be wearing a Moto-X helmet, Moto-X gloves, then just skater shoes, B-ball shorts and my KB T-shirt.
I normally go about 60-70ks on the push bike down slopes anyway but I don't wana get left behind on flat surfaces and uphills. I have been towed by Andrew on his ZXR250 doing about 60 and it was cool as and we didn't even have a rope then. I'll try to see what would be the best thing to get to hold on to, probably a sturdy stiff rope with a loop at the end to hold on to?
May the one wheeled action, begin!

Getting right back to the subject I hope this was not already suggested but KB can get a free add in the MCN events section if this is to be a reoccuring event and this would grow the ranks? what say you Spank me?

why don't we make it around 6:15, leaving at 6:30 then? The meet at MB isn't till 6:30/7, we should be there around 6:45.. Traffic should be dead around that time, so shouldn't be an issue..

Just look for a large group of bikes in the car park opposite Burger King, it's between Burger King and the sea. You can't miss us, alternatively if you are running a little late just park your beast and come in to BK, easy to spot fellow bikers. See you later.

I am not just saying this and I really mean it, SORRY for scaring anyone with my passing if I did!! :o I should remember next time that I am not on a race track full of racers who don't mind passing each other within close range.
I am used to having big bikes now, which lets me pass safely and still have a good speed but I really couldn't be arsed with letting go of the throtle on the 150 and wait for hours to get up to speed again.
That being said CHEERS CHRIS for letting me borrow your bike man!! It is bloody good fun, I just had to be a bit of an idiot on it on the road to keep a good speed...

Crashe, your improving in leaps and bounds. Lie you said, ignore everyone behind you. How did you find looking for the posts around courners on the way back at night?
Justsomeguy. Ride was from Mission Bay to St Helliers and then up through Gendowie and back to St Helliers Bay Road for a gas stop. From there out to Howick and on to Mairatae. After a feed of Fish and Chips and tracking down Allan's boots we heading back the way we came. Fun heading towards the set sunset. I pealed off at Howick and had a beer at home.

We came up to a roundabout ..hmmm no bikes... come to another roundabout.. hmmm still no bikes... oh hell we are all alone in the dark, in the middle of somewhere....lol.
Erik decides that we need to go back to the last roundabout and turn down there.. so off we trot.... and we stayed together, having to ask a few people "UMMMM where's the motorway, we are kinda lost?"
Well after asking a number of folks we do make it to the motorway..
and Erik bless him, wanted to go back to Mission Bay to see if any of you lot had gone back there....
Well we had fun sorting ourselves out with all the new extensions down by Grafton/Stanley St.... but we make it to Mission Bay ok...
Hmmmm still no bikes....lol...... so then we head home..... Erik went off at Waterview and I continued on down the motorway....
So what can I say about the trip... The whole thing was great....
Thanks Wonko for those kind words.... I had a great time out there with all you lads....

Don't be hard on yourself about your wheelies, it looked to me like you were bringing them up and putting them down smoothly.
I think if you carry on, you'll start to get some more height on them, and then will be able to balance them after that.
But regardless, it looked like you were enjoying yourself, and that's what matters.
Oh, and that burnout at the traffic lights was good for a laugh.
