Not the bucket?!! :(
oh well, hope can get RG fixed. Shouldn't be too expensive if you give them the crank. Decent shop should know what aftermarket rod kits fit. Will be more reliable with some Japanese parts in it (ie 150s aren't made in Japan, but design is based on RG125 which was). Good rodkit will be Jap, TKJ etc, perhaps Long, although I always try & buy a genuine brg. May find rod is same as some year RM in which case Hotrods would do a kit. Finding RG150 part numbers may be a pain. If you can find a suzi part number I have a listing of other models it is used in if a common part.

Hels, I feel bad about taking the piss about letting you sit on my bike, and having being called an Indian Giver I'd like to upgrade my offer to:
...having the opportunity to probably be the first to ride on the back of Matte Mille (with your man's permission) once I'm back riding, fitting fit, and unlikely to fall over for no/some reason. As a 'hard-luck mate' bonus I'm reasonably confident that you will be the first in the Lower NI to ride on the back too (I'll confer with the previous owner).
Its fair to say that Mille will be polished 20x before you get on too. Up to your standards I hope.

By the time you add the gaskets and labour...I don't think so. Besides....Helen has about as much luck with 2-smokes as I had. I think the old VFR's are screw and locknut and need done less frequently than Hel's blows up her 2 strokes.
2 strokes are for Eastern european peasants.

250$ For a bottom end kit.
Plus about 70$ for bearings and seals.
No labour cause she has Koba!

Oh haha hilarious. Up until recently any serious form of motorcycle sport was performed with 2 stroke engines. GP, MX, Trials, all chose 2 strokes as the only suitable race engine. The Diesels were always eligible, but eve Honda couldn't make one competitive with a zillion $ & a loose interpretation of 'maximum 4 cylinders'. It has taken legislation, racing class rewrites, & double the cc to topple them from this position.
Talking of East European, East Germany is where of course Walter Kaaden, the architect of the modern 2 stroke race engine hailed from.

3 grand on a 400...bwhahahhwahhahaha. You can buy a decent one for about 2 grand.
Just because you spent 3 grand polishing a turd doesn't mean that all 4 strokes are unreliable.

yikes hels! the amt you've spent on turds and turd polishing by now... you'd have got yourself a reliable, new-ish bike with genuine low kms!!
Go with quality girl, it might cost more at the start, but pays off in the end. Some might disagree, but I'd rather ride bikes than fix them...

Ha, I got ripped off by buying it for $3000 in the first place. I spent well inexcess of that trying to keep it going!

Yes, and we all know about Helen's situation dont we. NOT!
If I could have bought a 'good newish' bike then I would have. Dont criticise what you have no idea about.
