After a pretty scary crash yesterday (trying to avoid hitting another competitor after he crashed) I was flung over my handlebars and landed on my back/head. I felt ok last night but today the dizzy spells and some fogginess seem to be taking their toll, low grade concussion I think.

My head hit the ground fairly hard, whiplash in the neck and the grazes and bruise under my chin from the strap demonstrate that.

The picture speaks for itself I'd say.

Now, anyone know the cheapest place for a struggling racer to get a new Shoei Raid from?

Is there still a shop in Alex???

Otherwise Dunners or ChCh for you.

Freight may not be too much

Its hard to show in the photo but the outer shell has a few small cracks in it, definately last time that is used. Suppose it hasn't done me too bad, nearly 18 months

I stand by my previous Pfft. Fix it thus:

1, get a quantity of stickers (Shoei stickers will do, but if you can, a "No Fear", "Lion Red" or an adorable sticker of Calvin pissing on an opposing brand are better)
2, Put stickers over the "damaged" area of the helmet.
3, Presto, good as new.

And there, my friend, I just saved you several hundred dollars on a replacement helmet.

You are welcome.

Thing is ... how much for the replacement brain when he comes off next time and has a head injury or brain damage ... crikey!! ;)

Looks like Mully will buy your helmt off you!! no seriously though if your symptoms persist or you deterioate in any way head to the docs, head injury can take time to develop. Keep a close eye on it.

PS - you should ask Shoei to sponser you a helmet and give them this one as a "look how good these things are" helmet to show off.

Yeah don't worry, been checked out by the doc and should be a-ok in a day or two.

Yeah need to find out who the shoei importer in NZ is.

The head is not designed for landing on. Best use is for thinking. If you used it for this you would see why you should not use it for landing on.

Glad you're OK. Watch out for any odd thoughts or behaviour.
