Ive just replaced the instrument cluster on my GL145, and now the speedo is reading slower than what im actually doing and the tacho is reading higher than what im revving at. Can anyone tell me how I can correct this? I did not realise they need to be adjusted, there didnt seem to be anything to indicate that they may be out of adjustment if i just screw the cables back into the cluster. Thanks for any help :)

If you rev the motor up in neutral, does the speedo change? If so you have the cables arse about. But there are no adjustments that you can make.

Ive got them the right way around as they both act as they should, but they are just not reading correctly. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

They're obviously off a slightly different machine. Perhaps a different market or something and the gearing for them is not the same.

Hmm I cant imagine there being any variance between GL145s, but anythings possible. Is there any way to correct it or am I stuck with it?

You can get a reduction drive made but you've gotta know the exact % its out. Probably not worth the expense.

i know this doesn't help You much but for the electronic speedos You can get a 'Yellow Box' Speedo recalibrator, Mine is arriving from the states soon, then I'll fit my -1 front sprocket...

Keen to know how you get on with the yellow box, having already gone -1 on the front. Definitely the cheapest and most performance enhancing thing you can do :2thumbsup

Better idea. Go -2 front and -3 rear. You'll be able to get a little more wheelbase through chain adjustment and give the front a little better chance of staying in contact with th dirt.

I thought the Yellow Boxes were made in Australia?

You can also get one from Jaycar Electronics for a few shekels - easy as anything to use; just connect it up, dial in how many percent it's out by, and there you are.

But -2 on the front is a bit extreme for many bikes - makes the chain turn through too tight a turn, wearing it out prematurely. Even going down 1 tooth makes it noisier and wear out quicker, unless it's a very large sprocket (17T or bigger) fitted as stock. Going below 15T isn't a good idea.

17T as stock. (I think)

Vifferman: yep the yellow boxes are from Aus, although mine's coming from the states through a member on another site.
Trashman: -1 on the front equates to +2.5 on the rear.I couldn't get an +3 530 for the rear so went the -1 up front as a second choice.
