Go down State highway 2.
Why google earth needs to come into it is beyond me...

Route planning. Add a waypoint on each road and use GoogleEarth to connect the dots. Then go to Google Maps with it and each directions and distances (and generous times!)

Look for the road that runs between Upper Hutt and Featherston, the twisty fun road that goes through the hills and bush is the Rimutaka hill road.

There's a bit of a thread about it here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=61111
Now of course if you're road-seeking, then we would be unkind not to include Paekakariki Hill Road - Grays Rd - SH58 - then Rimutaka Hill Rd (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&saddr=paekakariki&daddr=-41.046217,174.935989+to:grays+rd+to:paremata+to:fe atherston&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=11&via=1&sll=-41.071085,175.094795&sspn=0.381516,0.589828&ie=UTF8&ll=-41.071587,175.094604&spn=0.381513,0.589828&t=h&z=11)
Oh yes, if you're going to be there in the next few days, bring your accessories ...
