Great bunch of guys you went riding with. It was great to see Hutch there, I worked with his wife for a number of years and know that he would have had a ball on your bike.

Know the area that you went riding in but the FZ1 doesn't cut the mustard, not like the wifes F650GS. Am saving the dollars to participate again in the gravel, sand and mud.

I did a bit of work for the railways in the Whangamomona area back in the 80's ... stayed in Tahora in shearers quarters. Great piece of the country for sure.

22 tunnels on that stretch of rail I think wari,but you would know better.You would be able to appreciate what it took to put in both road and rail.

The way Hutch was riding my XLV 750 no one would of picked he was on anything more than a 250,passing bikes and all...until they went to look at it.Yep,the boy can ride alright.

I reckon you did frickin' great taking it on Motu - congrats !

Would love to do it myself, I'd better get some training in beforehand tho' ... working on computers doesn't build cardio vascular fitness and strength (or so I'm told).

Anyway back to the rail tunnels through there ... I was part of a gang clearing the entrances to stop slips that were derailing too many trains, really loved it !

Turned out my neighbour at the time ( an old bugga ) was in the crew actually digging the tunnels back in the '20's or so !!!

That's the Bridge to Nowhere. Build 1937(?) and never had a real road to it. Go to Pipiriki, get on the jet boat to go up river, then walk for 20-40 mins in the bush to the bridge.
The bike was built by a mate - brushcutter engine. We carried it in!

The toy bike was good fun, but you had to have a couple of beers to ride it.

At least we can say we have ridden over The Bridge to Nowhere & The Bridge to Somewhere, now not a lot of people can say theyve done that.:niceone:
