Just recently got a new 250r Ninja. With all the good reports on the bike and not many negatives in most write ups etc, i'am disapointed in the visability behind with the mirrors. Both my partner and i have ridden the bike, she is fairly short, and i'am 5ft 11, both of medium build, and we both find the mirrors difficult to see behind. Yes i know some of you are going to say you don't need mirrors, yeh right.
I do know that when Kawasaki bought the ER 6 out, that bike had mirror problems as well, so Kawasaki came out with mirror extenders for it.
How do all you new owners find the mirrors on the new 250 ? can you get mirror extenders for this bike ?
We have just removed the horrible rear tail piece, and fitted a Fender Eliminator Kit, and boy the bike looks great. Also done the wheels out with Graffic Red Wheel tape.

I have the same problem with the CBR. I can see the sides but just can't see directly behind me, since my body's in the way. I'm almost tempted to atatch some blindspot mirrors just to help me get started... problem is they'll look bloddy gay man.
Mirror extenders? I doubt it.

Cool, I'm getting my Ninja250 next week, can't wait! What colour did you get? Other than the issues you've mentioned there, what do you think of it?

Wonder if the less "stylie" mirrors off the old gpx250 would fit? or maybee the ones off another model

I have an R6 and have fitted a fold away end bar mirror which work's a treat, might look at doing the same, would sharpen the whole package up to.
blairh ; Got a Ducati Red one, my partener's a Ducati fan, the Red does look nice, even though i'am a Yamaha Blue fan.
Rode it over 500 klms in one day 5hrs from new, bugger the 4000 rpm thing at 60klms on the open road no way. 5000 rpms with out loading the engine for 200 klms, then up to 6000 rpms for another 200, since 400 klms we have run it up to the 8000rpms, and will keep it that way till we have reached 1000 klms. After 200 klm the bike frees its self up noticeably. This bike is such a user friendly bike and will be sharp as tacks in the cornering dept, can't wait to get the thing rev'ing out though.
Tyres mate, nothing wrong with what they come out with, may try a set of Michellins on at a later date.
I will post some pic's after the weekend on the mods.
Cheers Frosty for the info. I Have enter'ed the Taupo Spectacular might catch up with you.

The mirrors are one of the cutest things on the 250r, they make it like a little animal. :P
Do they fold back and everything?

It wasnt until I actually got on the bike and started riding it that I realised the mirrors were a downfall with the bike. The only way I could see what was behind me was to drop my arm down off the handle bar by my side which to me was after a while a pain. While my hands were on the handlebars the only thing i could see in the mirrors was my arms covering 3/4 of the mirrors which only gave me 1/4 vission from them. When you look at the bike from the front the mirrors to me seem big enough but once on it they werent doing what the we suppose to, and that being given me the vission I needed. Overall the bike is fantastic and suits me to a T. Am looking forward to getting out on it as much as I can and for the day it is finally run in.

This problem is not confined to the ninja alone - my SV suffers from it as well....just hafta lean around a bit or even better, look over your shoulder.........

My Z750S' mirrors are shite. All I could see was elbows or the lane next door.
So I did this.

Hey there,
I have the same problem with my ninja the mirrors could do with been out more, so i just find myself moving my head left or right to see more. Have thought about how i could change them but i seem to be use to them now so i'll just leave them. I don't like the long tail piece either was it a hassle to remove?

Rusty will be putting photos up within the next couple of days ok?. I can honestly tell you the bike looks so much better with that tail piece gone and the wheels look awesome with the wheel tape we have put on it also.

Ninja 250r Mods, Here are some shots of the mods, so far, Tail piece removed and fitted a Fender Eliminator Kit, ( have one spare for sale if you want it). $170.00 a Kit. Also Wheel rim tape at $50.00. Next are Crash protectors, or Oggy Knobs, then End Bar Mirrors.

I have to agree about the rear view mirrors, however it's my first bike so I basically figured they're all like that. Love the bike tho!!

I have heard the same noise coming from the petrol cap and i think its due to the pressure in the tank after a run. It continues for awhile while the bike is parked. The Oggy Knobs we will be importing from the States as a no cut frame slider, (which means no cutting off the fairing). There has been some issues of these on the Kawasaki 250 forums as some have been produced and dont give full protection in a low slide. At the moment I think there are only 2 suitable types on the market available. Will be looking at a puig tinted screen for the bike as well. Hoping to take it out this weekend after the last 6 weekends have been dismal for riding. Wanting to get it run in so I can finally get the chance to see what it can really do. Happy and safe riding to all of you guys and girls who manage to do the same thing as me. Takecare out there.

Different bike, same problem. I've gotta drop my elbows to see behind me. Doesn't really worry me to be honest.
