Vomiting in your helmet - not for the squeamish!

As the title suggest this might get quite gross, its not for the sqemish, so if you are don't read on!! I dont expect to have any posts about being a sicko, sad bastard or the like:bash:, If you dont like it I have given warning DON'T READ ON. I have a valid question and would like to hear peoples stories.

I was riding home last night and had one of those little sick'ee type burps, you no the ones where you sort of burp and vomit a little at the same time. Usually nothing more than a fowl taste and you swallow it down, no harm done.

It sort of reminded me about when I was diving and people used to vomit in their regulators underwater, not a pretty sight but the fish loved it:Oops: it got me to thinking, has anyone ever vomited in their helmet, seen it happen or herd of it happening!! Share your story, good or bad you never know we may learn somthing.

Once again this is not meant to offend, just thought it would make an interesting topic.

No, open-faced helmets are very forgiving in this department....

HOWEVER.... I have had an experience when 'gobbing' out a hocker the size and consistancy of a mouldy tea-bag when riding at speed.

Not a good look when lifting off the helmet later and looking like you have been 'slimed' on the head:doh:

Yep been there.
Got crook from a feed at a lunch stop a short while back.
Was real bad as was trying to hold it in, hope it would go away etc, all the time not focusing on the road, trying to keep up with the other guys.
Realised that I was riding poorly due to being distracted, feeling crook, and it was dangerous. Just had time to come to a halt, flick the stand down, leap off..........alas.......not quite in time, but got the helmet off before the big chunky bits flowed........:sick::shit::mellow:

I could feel this cold wet spot but was nothing I could do but wait til I got home. Took helmet and scarf off and it had dried all over my chin. Looked like a huge booger.:sick:

Have come really close to spewing in my helmet coming home from a One Nite Stand, over the Napier-Taupo road. Bike had a buggered battery so I had to find a hill to park on so I could bump start it every time I felt another spew coming. Was not much fun. I dont get so pissed at rallies anymore.:oi-grr:

I haven't vomited in my helmet, but I do know someone who sprayed pepper spray into someone's helmet, then closed the visor. Now THAT was funny :)

Surely, unless you don't have a sense of smell, spewing in your helmet is cause for replacement :yes:

I'm concerned about it, being ejected into a fairly enclosed space and all, getting in your nose when you try to breathe inbetween the retching.
That, and that dripping feeling afterwards as it flows down and soaks your leathers... :(

eeeawww yuck she'd be a disposable helmet i recon ! Or at least dissinfect and throw it in the bushes for a few months

I remember a few years back while being a pillion on the back of a friends bike who wasnt feeling the greatest at the time while we were out riding wearing the contents of what came out of his mouth while vomiting. He never had time to pull over on the side of the road and let it out while still riding, so u guessed it I ended up with the lot all over my helmet and jacket. The smell was that bad that I ended up chucking up myself and that is 1 ride I will never forget and thankfully have never experienced again. Took ages for the smell to get out of both the jacket and helmet and it was such a mission to clean. The remainder of the ride home was the longest I have ever had even thou it was only an hour, but when the smell just wont go away u sure do become an expert in holding your breathe for long lenghts of time.

A little off topic but once upon a time a long time ago I was 'on the piss' with a mate in my virtually new 3.3 Victor and my mate decided he needed to spew.

Couldn't find the window-winder in the dark so clamped his right hand over his mouth.

Couldn't hold the pressure so ended up doing a 'five-finger-spread' all over the inside of the wind-screen and top of the dash.

Not TOO hard to clean up the next day HOWEVER the pong every time the demister was turned on was awful...and went on for months.

Made it tricky thinking of reasons not to turn on the demister when trotting out a chicky-babe.

Have sneezed in my helmet in the past which certainly affected visibility until I got the visor open. a couple of months ago I had reason to need to use my old helmet, put it on my head only to find it had been colonised by ants who were now in my hair. Have had an egg broken in my helmet while it was locked to my bike some years back:Oi:

Being a bit of a mummy here but meh who cares.
Most new helmets have completely removable innards that you can wash and for ya leathers and what have you, after rinsing the 'debrie' off, use a half jug of hot water with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda in it and a vanilla pod.
Works a treat getting rid of the smell. Just leave it on as long as possible before wiping off.

hmm weird, I've never been able to sneeze while wearing a helmet/mask/goggles of any sort. For most people its impossible to sneeze under water (for a good reason, just one of those cool things the body does naturally). The body detects you are under water because of the pressure applied to your head/ears. I guess wearing something on my head creates similar effect so I cant sneeze.

Never been sick enough to puke on a bike, hopefully never will.

Years ago I was at a party....cold cold night....House was nice and warm....Started drinking and smoking....got blotto....I went to go home....put helmet on, jumped on bike and got round the corner...I felt it coming up but did not have time to open the visor let alone take helmet off...Full powerchuck in closed fullface helmet!!!! YUCK....next day I bought a new helmet

Never spewed in a helmet, and just as well cos i've got one of those really weak stomachs when it comes to gross smells. But I do know of someone many years ago (no, not katman) whose cat pissed in his helmet and he didn't realise until the thing was on his head. Eeeewwwwww.

I remember the first cold kiwi I went on my way home... feeling squeamish and a bit green... I couldn't get my helmet off quick enuff... and yup full flowing lumpy bits in my helmet... the stink after would was ban to make me just about go again...

Very next day new flip top helmet... and ever since then I have had a flip top... and well makes like so much easier
