Could you not make them using appropriate sized radiator hose (seriously)

ahh no, they have a moulded metal base curved and angled to fit plus rad hoses are soft and the boots are what hold the carbs in place last thing i want to see is my carbs dangling beside me at a 100ks

oh ok. That freight charge from the US looks very high, is that by Fedex? Wont the supplier send them by post?

no they stated they only use fedex/ups, have found others on ebay all for the same price am waiting for confirmation of their pricing, however short term i have managed to locate a replacement unit for now and bike is running again

I have been looking for a set of these for a year now, the US$84 - 94 price tag is what you will have to handle as there are no other suppliers anywhere. I doubt that the shipping price is $105, having had a dozen items sent from ebay in the past 3 months. The most exspensive was $132 US for a full custom Jardine exhaust 4-1 for my XSEleven. And that was air fright in 10 days.Your inlet boots will not be anywhere near that price. My average cost for air fright from US has been $32, IT WAS us $27,25 FROM GERMANY! For a new gasket kit that cost US$74, compare that price with the price you will be quoted from a NZ Yammy dealer
Keep looking and getting frieght prices, you will find one that is affordable.
But also keep a close eye on the exchange rate, as this can increase the price dramatically if it is low.
Are you conversant with the XS Eleven web site?
more information and links there than you will find anywhere in the world.
A bunch of good guys will to help and give advce.
If you only need two inlet boots, one of them may be able to help you out rather than buy a set of four
