Getting a bike back on road- rego/wof

Gday,

Almost finished my VFR now (I think) and I'm wondering what's the deal exactly with Wof and rego. It has not got a plate.

Do I take it to get a wof first so i can then get a rego? If so- will police let me off for driving it to the place without a plate? Something like a pink sticker i've heard is that right?

Or do i take it to get a plate/rego first? Can you do this without a wof though?

If it has no plate you need to take it to a compliance testing center. You will need proof of ownership and a brake declaration and then they will take it thru the compliance procedure, its like a wof but more indepth. It will need std pipes or at least very quiet ones, Std indercators (or at least e marked aftermarket ones) and so on...... Then you can register it.

Just taken my '82 Cx500 in for wof and Reg hadn't been done for about 6 years. Had to get compliance check first , basically a glorified wof but because it was after 1980 did not have to get the brakes check so was turned out to be nothing more than a expensive $145.00 WOF. because I did not have a receipt from the last registered owner had to get a form signed by the police stating they had no interest in the bike. Then was the new rego and plate at around $328.00. Her indoors not very impressed but at least I don't have top worry every time I see a cop

Hey mate I'm in the same boat as you right now with my CBR250RR. I'm going to be taking the bike to Great North Road's VTNZ (if you live in Auckland), they seem to be cheaper than the compliance place in New Lynn. This VTNZ place will also do the brake check and rego at the same time. They reckon to just drop it off in the morning (closed on weekends) and pick it up after lunch time, and it should be done then.

From what I understand they MIGHT do plates on the spot. Best to ring up and ask first.

If all turns to shit then you might be better off getting it towed to the place.

AA compliance centre on archers rd unit 209. Ask for ashley. Good people, good service, hassle free.

Before going to the compliance centre, what do i need? Brake certificate? Any bike shop does that? Anything else? Engineers report motorb was saying something about? After a compliance, surely i wouldn't need a wof or would i?

Go to compliance centre- get it checked... then what, I can go to a post office and register it, they send me a number plate in post and it's done?

Go to the vtnz your going to use and tell them about ya bike ! They will give you the appropriate info !
If it was a damaged write off you will be sent to get a repair cert from an engineer !
Then a brake cert from a bike shop will be required !
A clearance from the police that they have no interest in the bike !
Then they will put it through the comp. check !
If the reg has just lapsed you may be able to save on the engineers cert !

But for Christs sake go to the Vtnz first b4 ya cart the bike there, they will give ya all the relevant forms to get sorted/filled out etc

Just go to compliance centre and they will sort it all out. It shouldn't need a cert but if it does they can get alex in to do it on the spot( may take a day or so but you can leave the bike there), he also can do the brake cert if reqired . One stop shop really no messing around.

And yes then off to the post shop so you can register and get a plate( i mean line acc's pockets with gold)

I feel really rude asking this, but is anyone willing to lend me a hand with carting the bike to Archers rd in Glenfield?

Do they give you plates straight away when you go to the post office to get it registered?

slightly leaking fork seal is not a check for compliance is it?

just take the number plate off somthing else and ride it up there, sure its illegal, but if you dont ride like a dick and bring attention to yourself you will be fine.

borrow one off anything, trailer, neighbours car, print one off the internet.

I would take my car license plate but they are way bigger than bike plates so i thought it would stand out like a sore thumb to the local constabulary...

if anyone has a de rego'd license plate or anything they'd be willing to lend me that would be sick.
