I'm looking at trying to get more performance outta my 89 zxr. I was thinking muffler/exhaust first.. Whats best value for performance?

Theres no replacement for displacement!
When was the last time it was serviced or properly tuned? What tyres does it have? What kind of performance do you want?
Those zxr's are great straight out of the box. Just keep it maintained :headbang:

I origionally wanted to do the same to my bike... you know... make it go faster...
What's the point?
It's a 250, it's to learn on. My final decision was to spend the money on a bigger bike that has double the power and only weighs another fifteen or so KG's. Plus with this new law coming into place where there isn't a limit for displacement with a learner's license, the 250's will be dropping in value, and so will yours.
Never get your money back, even if it has pretty annondised levers and twinkle toes stickers over it.
Instead of making it sound faster, make it GO faster through handling and condition of the engine. Inspect your tyres, see if you need new ones. Get it serviced if you haven't done so recently. Plus another can won't do bugger all to it's performance anyway.

Best performance mod is usualy the rider. Get it tuned, make sure the tyres are ok and book yourself into a track day.

Heres a silly tip on how to reduce the riding weight but it IS true.
Just before a ride, have a BIG MASSIVE dump and a good leak. That'll save you about 1/2 - 1kg. No serious.
Oh and at a lunch stop, drinking 600ml of soft drink and a burger and fries will gain you aprox 1kg. Keep that in mind :niceone:

alright, so a tune up's sounds like a good place to start. What sorta cost can I expect so i don't get ripped off? I was quoted $300 ish including service But I heard that could be a bit high
