despite a bit of overcast cloud and such like,

it was good to see a few riders out on 22 today

Due to my ESL (enrish second lanugage) I missed meeting up with two FC brothers, but despite that and the bike I have been loaned(spazookishita) had a great thrash on my old fav road again...

suprising not to see many out today, those I passsed I hope you thought i was passing carefully:nono:.. (given all the talk on kb on this matter lately I have tried to keep that in mind when passing others)

Nice to talk to the guy on the red and white R1, sorry I don't recall your name or if you were a kber.. your pace was good for someone who has not been on 22 before.. if you are reading this, just remember ride at your own pace, and pm me if you want to go over that road again,I will be more than happy to show you the road again (and a few others) I have this loaner till the end of the month, hopefully we will get one more fine day before then,.

hope others had a good day if they rode ...

Peace

Yup. Surprisingly good day today. Perfect conditions.

My evil twin from a parallel universe (who doesn't have a licence either) took a large black crayon out along Old North/Peak/16/Woodcocks and back again.

I figure it must have been a crayon he made the stripes on the road with, not a GSX1400, because he'd never break the law and ride while disqualified.

He knows I'd disapprove of that.

Firefight, good to hear you were out on 22 as well.

I took the sv650s out on SH22 today for the first time. Metvuw.com showed it was going to start raining by lunchtime, but I ddin't see any rain. I left papakura around 9:20, went down ridge road to tuakau, SH22, Heatherington rd, waikokowai rd, rotowaro rd back to waingaro rd then to ngaruawahia, then back up waingaro rd/SH22, turned into hetherington rd again, saw a cruiser being put onto the back of a trailer (iirc, it might've been a ute), then rotongaro rd, glen murray rd back to SH22 and back through tuakau and ridge road to auckland.

On the way back, the roads had pretty much dried out, it was good. I didn't see many other bikes out either, aside from the cruiser I remember seeing an R6 and another sports bike I think that I'd seen in ngaruawahia and then saw them again when I was heading up SH22 and they were coming back down it.

I had a good ride, getting to know the sv and also testing a clutch modification I'd done on friday night to stop my hand getting sore, it seems to have worked, so hopefully I'll be good to go for the trackday at taupo on friday and a bit more up-to-speed after having done another road ride on the sv.

Yeah, not too bad yesterday. Way better than today!! I rode to work (in Orewa) then rode north to Woodcocks Rd, SH16, Peak Rd, Old North etc. Captured a little video with my new ATC3k. Watch me go wide!

Erik - I'll be there on Friday as well, I'll come and say g'day. It will be my first track day with the new KTM. I can't wait! You'll love your SV650. I had a 2001 SV, it was a great track bike as long as the straights weren't too long. Here's a photo of me at a track in Queensland. It's Darlington Park before it got closed down. Bummer.

would be better seppo if you could hear the bike rather than music......

Yeah, unfortunately the mic on the camera is shit. There are mods for it though, like taping it up, cracking it open and jamming felt around it etc. I'll get it sorted soon.

Wasn't really a criticism(sp) I just like to hear the bikes :2thumbsup

Woodcocks road/West Coast Road is a good one. Got to watch out for cops on it though, I guess they use it to get from warkworth to SH16.
Lucky you didn't meet any oncoming traffic when you went wide. Better to stay wide going into the corner, then tip in when you can see the exit (late apexing (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=5482)).

I've got to sort out a camera mount for the sv today for taupo. :D
See you there.

hey Erik, long time no see/hear from etc,

would have been good to hook up,

I rode down and meet up with a guy on a R1, left him at hetherington intersection and tried to get hold of Rendy and Rino, saw the R6 and the other bike when I was heading back (north), they looked like they were having a good ride, I was on a calf shit yellow gixxer 600 (like Cajuns):sick:.. how is your sv . am still suprised at the lack of bikes given how shit the weather has been lately..

good ;luck for Taupo mate

Tis great to see others vids of their rides (particuly at the mo, though it's no where near the real thing)
But was i the only one tilting my head up and trying to look further around the corners ? Could be just camera angle, but as ya speed came up so did ya head !
Road looks really rough and i started thinking just prior to yr little *wide*
that it looked like you were focusing on what your tyres were gonna run through rather than where you wanted to be !
(hope you don't mind constructive blah blah) Know i am guilty of it myself and yeah track days sure help with it !

It’s all in the way you say it, imagine if some others on KB had posted it, the kind of people everyone loves to jump all over and criticise;
:2guns:

“Thrashed someone else’s bike along 22, lots of slow riders that I went passed
Hey guy on the R1 you don’t have a shit show of going as fast as me cause I know the road, pm me if you want your arse kicked again (that goes for anyone else that thinks they’re good enough)……”

No probs. I'll take constructive criticism, especially since i'm pretty new to the motard thing. 30+ years of different motorcycles, and it's like learning all over again! But what a ride! It's interesting being able to review the habits (both good and bad) and the errors on video when you're home and the ring has stopped puckering. I bet it will be a useful tool at the track too.

Yes! I was tilting my head back as I was watching it too! I looked over at the wife while we were watching it, same again! Ha

Hey Erik. That was me today headed north on the motorway if that was you headed south around 2ish? Yellow SV with a tail pack? Near Takapuna?

Not having a go at you - but for some reason if certain people post on KB similar stuff they get attecked for giving bikers a bad rep, given lectures about dieing and killing your self

The sv is good, it's a big change from the bandit. More engine braking, more torque, a bit more grunt. I'm keeping the bandit though, I think I'll miss the whine of an inline 4 too much if I get rid of it.
Thanks.

30+ years of bikes! that beats my 4+ years by a bit. I've got a bullet camera I've used at trackdays, they're really useful to help figure out what went wrong when you fall off.

It wasn't me on the motorway, I've been at home all day hiding from the rain and recovering from staying up too late last night. It's surprising how many sv's have had pack racks fitted to them, they seem to be a popular touring bike. Mine came with one but I've removed it.
