Wow, Way cool cool people here everyone is so nice, I caught up with a few of the Gurls here and they rock,
The first Photo is of my new “Friend” Brie the Trumpy she is racing is the same bike the Burt Monroe borrowed from a friend in LA to go look at cars to buy each time he was here, (I did not know that he was here 10 times and went over 200mph)
Anyway the chick with the smile did not want to run away with me, so I am still here until tomorrow,
Yeah and Annete both those ladies were putting that ZX14 down the track, they were so hard case…

As you all know I play around with enfields, well a bunch of similar Loons , of whom we have known for a long time have also been playing with them . Dan won the AMA no1 plate a few years back before ill health , but they are back and running a streamlined bullet, now the bullet only can make 40 hp so its all down to the other stuff to make it go Phils Email ;
We are entered in the BUB Speed trials for motorcycles only and not
speedweek that is happening now. I think the pre-entry list has us in
two classes with the Bonnie bike (Mark Brownlee) and one for the
roadracer (AHRMA Johnny). Dan is riding it in "run-what-you-brung".
There is an entry with Johnny riding the Triumph sidecar rig too!
Should be loads of fun. Wish all you guys could be there. I think my
second rule for having a good party is that it is seldom a bad idea
to add some more friends as long as the beer holds out...We will be
in the middle of a salt desert ya know.
I see 4 or 5 kiwis on the entry list

Next week I understand there is a bike only event, Phil Garret from Flying Kiwi and Chic N Charge are flying over to it to see his ex World Land speed record sidecar try and raise the bar a bit higher
Phil has also been offered a turboed Kawasaki 1440cc and a 1600cc Harley thingy of some description to do some runs on

Hi
Hot and Big !!!
I never rode Allan's ZX14 but he told me that it was like riding on marbles.
The salt is a weird surface...very slippery. Allan was spinning the rear wheel at 180+mph and the bike was sliding around as well. When he talks about having the front end slide a bit at over 180mph :gob:...well thats it for me I don't think I would ever try it myself. I will stick with my 1/4 mile drags thanks.
But at the same time he was leaving black tire marks as he launched from the start line.
Traction but no traction....as I said weird.
The heat was tolerable but we had 3 days of 45+ Degrees Celsius in Las Vegas before we got to the Salt so we were a bit acclimatize by then.
Still between 1pm and 5pm you really need to be in what ever shade you could find.
Water and Gatorade...I never though I could drink so much but you never went any where with out it it was to easy to overcome by the heat.
The meeting it self is quite laid back and there is no great tension as the guys get ready to start their runs. In fact the starters make a point of have a wee chat to the rider just to take his mind off things and settle him down.
The competitors out on the tracks really look out for each other. When you drive out to the end of the track to pick up your rider you never drive past anyone, who is out there waiting for his ride back, without stopping to see if they are alright and giving them a bottle of water. It is just too easy to get overcome with the heat out there to not stop and ask.
The place is just like you see on TV but way way bigger. The pits must have been 2 miles long. Maybe thats why I didn't get a pic of your mate.
The distances are very deceiving as there are no trees or things to give you an idea of the distance. I was at the 2 1/2 mile marker with one of the officials and he asked my to guess how far away a hill in the distance was. I used the mile markers on the track to guess it at 8 miles...it as 25 miles !!!.
I take my hat off to all the riders and drivers who race on the Salt. They are brave people and dedicated to their sport.
