Thought it might be cool for people to submit there favourite Adventure Rides in the Greater Auckland Region

Mine is the good old favourite up Muriwai beach to the bombing range, I managed today to get my NX650 all the way up to the edge of the dunes on Dual sport tires still with 20psi in them::sweatdrop

There were lots off seals on the beach some of them tryed to bite as you went past, sand was a bit softer than usual but was able to hold 130kph at times resonable safely, took it a bit easier on way back as tide was coming in,

I've often wondered whether they'd make good eating. You could pop one in the head, gut it, and have it under cover in the back of a ute within 5 minutes or so.

Mmm - thanks for that - right in my back yard & I was thinking of something along those sort of lines for Sunday morning - the DR needs a bit of a shakedown for a change ... will try your exact routemap then ...

Cheers

When were you thinking of heading up? I might be keen on a ride on Sunday but it will have to be in the early afternoon.........

If you want to expand that a bit cut thru Kiwitahi road to Rimmers road, down to Muriwai beach, south along the beach to Muriwai and back to SH16.
Good fun on the beach but watch out for fishing lines & other users.

Hey CM - a bit of advice - Where can one still get access to the beach from the Rimmers Road area?

Haven't been out there for a while, but last time it had become a real ache to find what access may still be available - admittedly that was around the time that the Sandpit setup had (unbeknownst to me until I got there) closed their beach access that used to be right behind the old entry gate area ... so a while back! Then went down to Muriwai access itself & got "harassed" on the day by the NZP for playing on the beach with unrego'd, unlicensed, unwoffed, unwhatevered quadbike & haven't been back.

Thx

End of Rimmers road....... ok, it's actually forestry roads but still Rimmers road, straight past the sandpit, it ends in a car park with a sand road (very whoopy) to the dunes and down to the beach. It is the public access to the beach at the northern end.

The beach is a public road (as you found out) but I'm not sure of the speed limit now as there has been a lot of pressure to lower the limit because of high speed & poor driving on the beach.

Enjoy!
