Sean Connery! :first:
Agreed!
Pierce Brosnan is ok, but it's a little bit TOO hollywood for me. Maybe bond is just getting "old"?

Having read the books well in advance of the seeing any of the movies only Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore really fit the character Ian Fleming created and perhaps my dislike for Sean Connery as James Bond comes from that

And the the movies were wanked up to make them rather more a comedy than anything else.

Funnily enough, Roger Moore was Ian Fleming's personal choice for James Bond. Still don't like him tho. Sean Connery made James Bond and no one else has come close to comparing!

Sean Connery is still puling votes as the sexiest man alive because of his success as James Bond. SO says my girl

George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton are the only two that have brought physical menace to the role. Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan always seem startled and scared when things go wrong. GL and TD "focused" and then killed people and broke stuff.

David Niven was one of THE best british actors ever (along with Peter O'Toole)... he was in "Casino Royale"

Sean's No.1:first: with "Never Say Never" showing that he still had the right stuff. Brosnan :second:But Moore, what a wanker:tugger: Even a Jane Bond would whip his sorry arse.

Always thought that "Roger Moore" was an instruction, rather than a name.

The best Bond in recent times must be Shane. A bloody legend!

Totally agree! Sean Connery is the man!

How cool would it be if the next bond movie featured a breakout of some ex 007 agents? Connery included!

I enjoyed "A view to a kill" coz the earlier ones were abit before my time for me to fully appreciate. Music rocked in that film!!!

Well Done, Peter O'Toole also made an appearance in Casino Royale too. Had Peter Sellers too. Definitely my favourite Bond movie. I mean how can you beat Woody Allen as the bad guy?

Anyone else notice the new bond movie supposedly has the same name? Grrrrrrrrrr they better not be thinking about fucking with it.

Indy - I'm disappointed, how can you start a thread like this (not to mention poll) without full knowledge of the subject before hand.

Er, Casino Royale was the first Bond book (almost a short story). The film was a spoof (come on, it had Ronnie Corbett in it). The original story defines Bond - sexist, misogynist, alcoholic, psychotic. It also had the original cocktail, none of that "shaken, not stirred" crap. If they made a film that was true to the book it would be a bit different from the film Bond.

I like Brosnan because when he made "The Tailor of Panama" he basically played Bond without the charm. It shows what a total shit he really is, but because he's so smooth he gets away with it.

Connery.... From Russia with Love. The fight in the train with Robert Shaw was fantastic.

Connery is a man's man, although my wife has made some uncharateristically colourful statements with respect to how she'd like to spend an afternoon with him and what they might get up to, even at his advanced age :nono:

Connery, it has to be Connery! That voice would make me vote for him even if I were blind! Roger Moore was a bit too Hollywood, Brosnan grew on me after a while, he was slick enough. Not sure who should be the next Bond, none of the current crop of leading men are right for the part!

My fav was Pierce Brosnan - had the classier "camp" touch with the one liners than Roger Moore, while still being uber sexy.
Timothy Dalton I also liked, but Daniel Craig has to be tops with his hard edged killer Bond. After all, a licence-to-kill agent can't be too foppish (unless as a cover) and DC is my pick for a realistic government killer.

George Lazenby just couldn't cut it for me (Sean Connery looks waaaaay sexier than him in a kilt). Doesn't ole George do soft porno now? (I seem to remember seeing him 'pop up' figuratively speaking, in some R18 thing late night on Sky years and years ago when we still subscribed to it). Porn - a long way down from Bond......

p.s. I voted for Pierce Brosnan, but would change my vote to Daniel Craig if he was added to the list.:drool:
