To put you all in the picture, I am Amazons better half [she'll argue this point]...aaaaanyway.....
Not too long ago [5 - 7 yrs] I decided to buy my first bike, a 1986 Virago 750, it was my very first bike and Amazon did NOT!!!! want me to get it...I ignored her & got it anyway a couple of years later the ole girl seized [not through lack of love or attention I might add], this only steeled my resolve to get something new...BRAND NEW!!!!.
This saddened and angered Amazon to the point that it would be, Quote "OVER MY DEAD BODY" unquote, would I be buying anything, let alone new!!!!!!

A wise man once told me "water will always wear away rock" and so I kept poring on the water until my rock was nothing but a grain of sand....I got my way....a Bully C90 was in my stable within 3 days!!!!!

Amazon was still yet to be convinced of the "thing" I had about bikes and rallys and stuff....you all know what I'm talking about

It was not until one beautiful sunny weekend almost 9 months ago that on the Saturday I took her on the Bully to a little cafe in Outram and then on the Sunday we repeated this again out at Carys Bay where, while waiting for our lunch to be served outside, enjoying the sun and the dream view of the bay, two bikes pulled up and from under the helmets appeared a husband & wife combo.

This was the defining moment when she under stood what I'd been trying to tell her for years about the "bikes, rallys & stuff".

She now has, not only bought a Virago 250 [to learn on] but now has a Bully C50 [BRAND NEW!!!].....little did I know back then that I had lit a fire under her ass big enough to persuade her not only to part with some $$ for her 250 but to part with even bigger $$$$$$ for the Bully.......my work is done:Punk:.....or is it????

I'm stoking the next fire as we speak:innocent:

hehehe wicked story mate. its amazing seeing ppl who themselves think they wud never even sit on a two wheeler all of a sudden seriously consider it. I was the first in my family to ever contemplate getting a motorbike, and after getting one only a few months later my sister has a scooter and my 63 year old dad wants to learn to ride!!! imagine!

I did the same thing myself this year, and she's grinning like a dinner plate and taken to it like a duck to water.

Was a tough job though, but worth it.

Good story.
My better half will only come out if there is a cafe and lots of sunshine, but thats an advance on the " I'm never going on the back of that thing!" we started out with.
Dont think she will ever get her own one....

After a couple of years all I've managed is to get Sarah on the back for a ride around the block but she has said maybe a scooter would be fun

Evil Ex and I used to argue about the bike thing alot, so in the end I caved to logic. When I delivered the final separation agreement to her new abode, I turned up on my shiny new Gixer Thou. :)

MadBikeBabe doesn't like the scoot, although the only part she likes when she has been on it is the bit where the throttle gets opened a little. But she's totally supportive of riding -and in fact, when I'm getting grippy, she throws me the keys and tells me to fuck off and ride.

It's a hard road to find the perfect woman... :2thumbsup

It only took a few rides on the back of WasPhantom's 'bike before I was hooked on the feeling, then a bunch of courage on my part to go for the licence and buy the 'bike... (getting the basic handling paid for was an incentive!) Will be great when we can get out there together!

Man I remember when I bought my bike, over my dead body will I get on for a ride! After the odd 25-30km pillion, then out to the mighty Whanga pub return(180km)she enjoys it when fine weather lol.So much she has slowly bought her own gear.

Went looking on Monday for bikes, suggested a neat XR250 for her to learn(and give me an excuse to buy an off road bike)but she said nah, might change though.
She then liked the VFR800(new),CBR100Blackbird 06 model, even an ST4Ducati,dear say the house should be sold prior to buying hehe.

I don't want to come over all manly here, the sad truth is I'm henpecked to f#ck, but when I met the bride it really was a case of love me love my bike, biking was and is part of me.

Fair play to the beauty, she has never tried to talk me out of it, in fact when I occasionally think of hanging up my helmet for good, she won't hear of it, reckons I'm some kinda major miserable bastard without bikes in my life.

I had to get my own licence & bike, the water thing didn't work for me, even after years of water (ok nagging:Pokey:) he still wouldn't let me on the back of the bike. Said if I got on the back he'd never get me off, my brother had been telling tales on me from our childhood:nono: with our little bikes, dad still dosen't know how his forks got bent on the farm bike:whistle:

By the time I've got my full licence I may feel confident enough to take a pillion, also by then the missus may have come round to the idea of going for a ride. "You'll never get me on that damn thing!"

It's a hard road to find the perfect woman Quote, then yeah shall look no further... :2thumbsup:.....Ahem, you are reading the words from a perfect woman, and I can provide references for those who want proof. I was at my happiest, when I was over in the Isle of Man last year, living on a diet of burgers ad chips, smelling the smell that comes from watching a winy 250cc race by you, looking at bikes, talking bikes, getting very drunk with my very special best mate IDB and his friends .

God I nearly popped with shear happiness, is it posible to internally combust when your ultra happy as I nearly did then, and I feel the same when I am riding along, listening to rock on m MP3 player, bounding my feet in time with the tunes on the footpegs or having delightful and educational conversations at bike rallies!!!!!

So that's it roll up roll up, one perfect woman signing off:wari:
