View Full Version : ‘Motorcycle Diaries’ receives multiple BAFTA nominations

The cinema adaptation of “The Motorcycle Diaries” – the diary of a journey around South America – initially on a Norton – by Che Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado has received seven nominations for the forthcoming BAFTA (British Academy off Film and Television Arts) awards.

The nominations are in the Best film, Best actor in a leading role, Best actor in a supporting role, Adapted screenplay, Best film not in the English language, The Anthony Asquith Award for achievement in film music and Cinematography categories.

Gees that was funny watching them depart on their trip on that Norton laden with so much stuff. Lucky they could only go 30km/h (or whatever it was).

It's okay, the missus loved it. It's not really a story about touring around South America on a bike. More about the journey of discovery these two took. Only the first half of the movie features touring - the second half is the two fellas working at a leprosy colony.
It is very well put together, and is the kind of movie where you get to know the characters (not hollywood stuff), subtitled for those who can't speak spanish/argentine (includes me).
Would recommend, but not as a motorcycle movie.

‘The Motorcycle Diaries’ – the film based on the pre-revolutionary Che Guevara’s trip around South America, initially by Norton – has picked up an award at the BAFTA ceremonies. The award was for Best Musical Score.
