I don't think I have the experience required to wright up a proper review for a bike like that, simply cos I never got a chance to ride the other bikes of this category for any longer then 20 km. :baby: So ill just share my feelings.
IT IS FUCKING AWESOME. The power seems endless (somewhat thanks to unset suspension), and It does feel like a blade cutting through the road. Any turns, any camber, any road. I had a longer ride with BIGBOSMAN and Biggles08 the other day :scooter: and i never could have imagined how easy it is to ride that thing fast. No shit it is fast, i was expecting it to be, but what surprises me the most is how accessible and fun it is. It is very stable in the corners, yet it is shorter then any other 1000cc inline 4 sport bike. There are not enough "o's" in Smoooooooth to describe how smooth the bike is. :woohoo:
On the other note I have read another forums and they indicate that there is a bit of a problem with the new cbrs burning oil. Mine burnt some at the beginning but now it seems it have stopped to do so. I really pray for it to be not spoiled cos I don't want another bike. Even if they refund it, i wouldn't know what to do. I like other bikes, but I really love this one for how friendly it is, and for me going to any other model would be a bit of a back step. So I just keep monitoring the oil... I just hope she will be fine.
So I've come up with a short list of pros\cons with around 700km on the bike.
Pros:
POWER POWER POWER
0-100 in under 3 seconds (couldn't test it cos i nearly fainted accelerating that fast  ), wheels in 4th gear, rolls in 1st with no gas and clutch engaged.
Terribly easy to ride very fast.
Feels comfy for what it is (i had bad back pain at the beginning but they are gone after a few days)
Brakes are insane, sometimes it feels like you've hit some gel pillow rather then used your brakes. :pinch:
Feels incredibly light in turns n such. The lightest Japanise 1k sport bike.
There is a storage space for at least a can of Red Bull.
Looks AWESOME in flesh. Specially in the colour i got it.
Has a cool character
Puts a massive grin on your face every time you ride it. :D
Increase sexual appeal.
Turns heads big time.
Cons:
Gets hot FAST. Standing at the street lights in the rain will make you look like a steam train. Literally gets soo steam, all the rear view mirrors, the clock and the screen get foggy.
Smells like burnt oil every time you stop. Hmmmmm...
Stock Ugly long rear licence holder that I changed to a small one was actually blocking off the durt\dust. Now my back looks like I ride on the back wheel with my arse. :bash:
Its a bit heavy to carry to your bed on the second floor.
Its cold to sleep in the garage. :cold:
Increases sexual appeal, but the bike is not yours!
No one is looking at the road cos they are looking AT YOU! :shit:

I hear "Honda build quality" more from the haters rather then owners. It seems that you have dreamed your self up that a honda never brakes, and you probably cum every time something goes wrong with them... This time you can also help yourself, you just have to use your imagination, as you always do. :tugger:

By the way what year is your hornet? My dad thinks of getting one as well. I've hear that they have redesign the bike for 2008, but the new model isn't available in NZ. So my question is, do you think it is still worth getting a new 919 hornet 07, or is it wiser to wait for the new model to arrive?

The new one is the CB1000R due here next month I believe.

However its priced at $19k where as you can get the 'old' one for $11.
Granted it will be a superior bike, but for my riding and importantly, budget I'm very happy with my 900. At $11k the existing bike is a bargain if you are looking for a good honest all-rounder.

Black blades are limited eddition for 2008. There were only 300 or something, and they were mostly pre-sold before the new blade was out.
I personaly think that they are best in creamy white, but thats not available for 2008 in NZ. www.honda.co.jp/CBR1000RR/

What is it that makes Honda gay? I'm from abroad and have only heard "gay honda" in NZ.
Its due to Hondas reputation for extremely reliable & often sophisticated machines. Having said that they have also been accused of being sterile and a tad boring over recent years - apparently things can be too good and lack a bit of that mystic character motorcyclists call 'soul'. Consequently something that sweet must surely be 'gay'? Some dorks even spell it with a 'h' 'ghay'.
You'll note that every review of your bike will comment on Honda getting its Mojo back as your ride has some 'guts' something apparently lost since the 900RR.
You'll also find references to Suzukis crashing a lot (due to the number of GSXR's on the road pushing hard this is a given!).
Kawasakis blowing up - no idea where this comes from
Harleys being shit (a hangover from the 70's - time to get over it)
Ducatis cost almost their purchase price to service
BMW riders are snobs (hmm I've definitely experienced this!).
The list goes on.
Most of the time a bit of friendly ribbing but you've experienced some weird shit on this post - pack of jealous bastards.

Thanks for the update. But where does that stuff come from? It seems like tgere is a general oppinion around NZ. Its just funny, how can a 1000cc sport bike be dull...

And Slowzuki riders are SHEEP...
Don't forget them...
GSXR, the choice for SQUIDS everywhere...
PS: Yes, it does appear to be a decidely Kiwi thing... Hondas being GAY...

Buggered if I know
My Hornet (described recently on this site as a 'girls blouse') can give me a hell of a thrill.
Your 1000 is in reality beyond the abilities of 90% of New Zealand's riders (oh shit now I've done it).
Its a funny old thing - some of the little quirks of a Italian bike that are regarded as soul would not be tolerated on a Jap bike, and I've even read a reviewer describing a new Ducati as feeling a bit Japanese!

My point of view is that most bikes these days are awesome. It is hard to go wrong with any of em, be it Kawasaki or ducati. I just dont get why people are so brand loyal sometimes, and most of the time with no good reason.
When they do that with themselves, it probably feels heartbraking to be passed by a ghey honda.

Nah dude, cracks me up now, especially as my Kawa comment was a piss take.
The really annoying thing is I just can't decide what skirt to wear with the blouse as all my wifes ones clash with my Honda. Not to mention I get really cold balls when riding in a skirt.

You could do worse than look up the word "fact" in a dictionary.
That's actually an opinion and you know what people say about those...

I have owned a bike from each of the big 4 jap manufacturers and find that they all have their pros and cons but any bike well maintained and loved will suit the purpose you want.
Brand loyalty is each to their own, italian bikes just happen to be my inkling at this time.

You should be loyal to your partner, family, drinking & riding buddies etc., but not to brands! Brand loyalty is a triumph of marketing identification over brainpower.
Think corporates give a fuck about you?
