Just in case you're thinking of coming into town from the Valley.

And dont forget the grit/gravel, and potholes that seem to be a permanent feature now of the SH2 roadworks at Maungaraki/Korokoro! Be careful out there...

Yeah that stretch is becoming a real hazard to anyone on wheels... you wouldnt fathom a State Highway could get into such terrible condition. Roll on the completion of the works.

Hope that doesn't extend up the Haywards hill, I have to head home that way!!

Yes and no. It has been going on for so long that in many ways you would be the fool if you crashed there. There are sooo many road cones and warning-signs up that if you dont notice them then I really do wonder why you would be driving let alone riding!

Road cones and warning signs are in place sure, that doesnt lessen the holed, scarred, uneven and loose condition of the road. Im not implying that I or anyone else traveling that road is unable to heed the warning signs but even at low speed that stretch of road has become hazardous... and now an oil spill to make things even more exciting?

Get what your saying BUT.....

I guess we could all just wrap ourselves up in cotton wool and never leave the house.

Has my post implied something that Im not aware of...? Im not suggesting that either... Im saying (and please read this carefully) That stretch of road is in shit condition due to the ongoing roadworks there - and - I am looking forward to it being completed.

It no longer resembles a road, more... a goat track, if anything. This does not mean I am suggesting that we shouldnt use it, that we need to wrap ourselves in cotton wool... or bubble wrap, or that we are even going to crash just because we drive / ride through it daily, weekly or monthly.

The road IS hazardous and I am looking forward to it being... completed.

Im sorry, I am a bit slow sometimes. I need to learn to recognise sarcasm. :shake:

But I get what you are saying, I go through there everyday. I just expect that like most NZ roads in the middle of road works that its a shit piece of road so I ride to the conditions and dont twist the throttle unless I purposely would like to lose traction. :devil2:

Every time I go through there the road had a new route, last time, I was in the left lane and it seperated from the right lane (heading North) was wondering for a minute if I was going to end up up the hill or somthing. The deep pits and open cast mines others may call pot holes do leave alot to be desired, I find myself looking down at the road carfully when picking a line through there.
