Can anyone recommend a good powdercoater in Auckland?
The frame under the seat of my vtr is rusting and wouldnt mind getting it stripped/rustproofed and then powercoated gloss black not much of a job and theres not much to the seat frame apart from unplugging the taillight and battery holder bits.
or maybe a standard paintjob would be fine, someone in newmarket area would be great :)

Good idea, why didnt I think of that... oh I did :)
They dont sound like a place I could dump the bike and say here ya go, paint that bit and ill ride it away in a couple of days, thought maybe someone had a good recommendation being bike people on here and someone may have had it done before.
Or maybe ill just strip it myself, spray some black zinc and gloss it over with some black spray of some sort, just a bit hard to find a place todo that when you live in an apartment and park in a carpark :) (someone might think i'm tagging the place ;)

Hey mate,
I've been meaning to do the wheels on my bike too. Have a look at http://www.hpcoatings.co.nz/
Seem well priced too. Let me know how you go

Just had my wheels done at Arkro Powdercoating (http://www.arkropowdercoating.co.nz/). They did a brilliant job - Stripped, sandblasted, plated, powder coated and laquered. $50 per wheel plus GST. Top job...

oh sweet im looking to get some powder coating done, these [arkro] guys look like the business!

Mods take note how dredging up old threads is way better than making new ones. you bunch of uptight pricks.

If you want something a little different- try Procoat in East Tamaki. They do a huge range of coatings including internal engine (valve, piston top etc) and some high temp header coatings. One of my bikes (current profile pic) is almost totally coated by them except the bodywork and it lasts well.

Do you offer a complete service? (take existing used, but cleaned, part, blast, primer and powdercoat)

Yeah take used part put it in an oven to burn out to get any grease and crap off it then we grit blast it back to bare metal and then powder coat it..

As far as I know its just regular powder coating. Im not sure of the pricing tho I only work in the factory.. The price should be on the website.. or just ring up..

Just the way an alloy frame should be treated!

As far as I know its just regular powder coating.

So why is the firm called High Performance Coatings?Shouldn't it be called Plain Ordinary Coatings?:devil2:

Maybe because we do a whole range of coatings? lol.Ill talk to the boss about getting the name changed lol... Maybe we will start getting some customers in the door :niceone:

We do bike frames all the time.. For anything alloy we "burn out" at a low temperature..

Looking at getting a pair of VFR400 rims coated and just called HPC, they said if the rims are still in their factory paint then they would need to be sent out for stripping ($65 each) and then basic powder coatings start from $95 each... Bloody hell!

In comparison Arkro Powder Coating quoted $50 per rim, stripped and coated while Baird and Whyte quoted $30 per rim for just the powder coating (no stripping or sand-blasting).

(Sorry for the dredge, but it's not like anything in the powder coating industry changes that much in a year...)

May well do that, although after spending the entire day blatting around, I'm not sure I'll be able to keep off it for 10 days straight...

i agree i have never had any done but i was playing with cars and got a few prices of HPC and they were always out of the price range. compared to other people that just do regular coating.
But when it comes to teflon for pistons and other highperformance coatings and exhaust. the others cant do it so they get to charge what they want. but they are very good at what they do.
