I have a fire siren that I've got and I plan to install onto my bike lol :) :woohoo:
I was wondering if anyone knows what the law is about having a siren on a vechical?
I'll connect it to a switch so its only on when I want.

Attempting to impersonate police is an offence, big question is WHY you would want to fit it...for what purpose ???

The short answer: No.
From the LTNZ Website:
Mandatory equipment:
1. A motorcycle must be fitted with a device (horn) that
is audible to other road users.
Permitted equipment
2. A motorcycle may be fitted with a bell, whistle or
siren, only as follows:
a) a siren fitted to an emergency vehicle, or
b) a siren, bell or whistle that is part of an anti-theft
car alarm, personal security alarm or a reversing
warning device.
A siren that imitates an emergency vehicle is a serious no-no.

That was a lame video. I tried to find one where he've put sirens on his GSXR and raced it around town with some other bike.
Btw if you dont know who that is, thats Ghost Rider. Google it. That guy is completly mad.

I reckon go for it... you will be the coolest biker in the country. Especially when you go through intersections with it on... everyone will stop and stare and just wish they were you :Pokey:
(dont worry about what others say about it being illegal... the cops will probly turn a blind eye to that kind of coolness and secretly wish they could be just like you too).

I have often been referred to as "a siren on a bike" although generally I try to avoid luring sailors to their deaths.

We would need to see pics in order to be able to confirm these claims for you... the one in your profile is... not siren material :msn-wink:

You are right but a wet blanket nevertheless. :girlfight: I'm going to pretend I didn't see that.
I have an ex-MOT BMW and I've wanted a siren for a loooonngg time but never known where to get one. It would be such fun...er, used judiciously of course. :buggerd:

I reacon its gonna make an incredibly laughable video , your fxr going trough an intersection with a siren on.
Or lane splitting with it...
Illegal may be but you sound like a young bloke happy to do anything for a laugh and I say go for it.
There are so many rules these days - you cant do this, you cant do that, but what if this happens, but what if that happens...and people are aftraid to have any fun at all...
Let us know how the syren works :niceone:

Couldn't agree more.....over-regulated to all hell. Parents scared to let their kids out the door, bad food, bad this, bad that......OSH removes personal responsibility for our own welfare.....if you fall out of a tree the tree owner is liable......goddamit, we used to fall out of trees all the time, break arms etc and it was OUR fault, not anybody else's......need a licence to bloody breathe next thing ya know.....wasn't like this when I was a lad.....rantraveroarsnortoink.....:angry2:

Funny... but...
Others won't know where the noise is coming from... especially from the little bike, if they saw ya anyway. Don't forget they can't see ya at the best of times, let alone when looking for where the siren is coming from. You'd be toast.
Getting through intersections? Red lights?????????? $150 for that, and $150 for the siren too..... Your money..... No doubt we will all hear about it on here when you get ticketed.:innocent:

I got mine from the local school that had been closed down, it must have fallen off :shifty: (or maybe some bugger unscrewed it from the wall, but we wont get into that :shifty: ) The maori's now have controll over the old ground and I decided that they probably didn't need it haha. So have a look around your local closed down school, see what's "fallen off".
WELL IT WORKS!!!:banana::banana: wonderfully to, all the thugs that I rode past pulled the fingers and a car actually pull over when I came up behind. hahahahahahaha
I'm away for the week but I'll get a video and post it next weekend for viewing pleasure :)
