Well - I'm only just new on here, but my bike's been stolen already, so no rides...
Just finished installing brand new tires, chain, tinted windscreen, integrated signals/mirrors, and full aftermarket body work. Finally finished up the big project last night, and what do you know - I wake up this morning - GONE. Pricks...
Anyway - if you happen to see cheap parts for sale from a 2005 CBR 1000RR you might want to double check their source.
It's a pretty noticable bike (black with blue flames), but if you run accross a frame for sale VIN: XXXXXX or an engine for sale No. XXXXXX well - that would be mine...
Stolen from Saint Marys Bay/ Ponsonby area early am August 28th.
Thanks :)

Got it back! I suspected they would have thrown in it in a van, but it turned up about two blocks away... Looks pretty good considering it was stolen. Ignition had the screwdriver down the throat treatment and a couple minor bits got ripped off. A few small scratches, but overall I'm stoked to have it back! Who knows if the cops will ever find the pricks, but with a bit of luck Karma will find them!
First thing I did was went out and bought a big chain and chained it to the light post. lol.
Thanks for looking out for it while it was gone - I hate theives!

Congratulations on getting your bike back that is great news as it is such a nice looking bike. It must really piss you off when you leave your bike parked outside of where you are to only come out to find out that it has been stolen. There are so many low lifes out there that wouldnt know what it was like nor what it feels like to have something that is theirs taken away from them. Hopefully putting the chain on it like you are going to, will be enough to protect it from ever happening again. Goodluck.

If you park it on the street - or in sight of the street - it's just a matter of time.
And no chain or alarm will stop a determined thief.
Get it out of sight ASAP.

In St Mary's Bay you probably have little or no choice about that.

What about using the chain to attach a large hungry dog to it??

Good to hear you found it :D
I'm glad I don't live in Auckland... Way to many bikes gettin stolen up there for my liking.
If you have no choice but to park it outside, spend about $90-120 to get a good, weatherproof bike cover with the metal protection sewn in the lower parts of it so you can cover your bike up even whilst the engine is still hot. As the saying goes "out of sight, out of mind"... As well as a good chain or what ever protection you can find.

..I was going to say. Lol, Christ almighty! :gob: Blade on the street? Just can't believe what i'm hearing. Please don't premote bike theft like that mate if you van help it- uni students have it bad enough...
I Keep my bike in my garage with a disk lock, a big fuck off chain tied to a pole, and a another chain round the rear wheel and exhaust headers. To top it off i keep it right beside between a wall and a fucking heavy pool table so no one can easilly get in there and maneuver with bolt cutters or what not. This is at all times when I'm out. :done:
I'd rather put my bike in my bedroom than leave it outside...
Glad you got it back!!!!! :2guns: :done:

In St Mary's Bay you probably have little or no choice about that.
Exactly. And about parking it inside - A friend of mine back in Canada does! ha ha. Unfortunately not possible for it to have a roof here... Stairs, etc...
Definitely a good idea about the cover - the kind where the bottom locks together. All the immobilisers/chains/garages/covers/alarms/dogs... in the world cannot stop a determined thief. Although I agree with that, the more nuisance to steel mine and the longer it takes, the longer I'll keep it. Also - if they've got to get through a cover and a chain, even with the right tools, it is a little bit more time for a neighbor to notice. I figure the more crap a thief has to go through, the more likely it is they'll move on to easier targets. And if it's a theft of opportunity ("hey guys - I'm bored, there's a nice bike - let's go for a joy ride" types...), then a cover could have 50% of potential crooks not even noticing it...
Chain in place.
All neighbors notified.
Cover is to come shortly.
It's worth the hassle, since I'm not commuting with it anyways. If someone had a shed/garage for rent on my street I'd go for that...

You're a champion! Great memory and great spotting, but yes - I've got the bike back! Unfortunately, my company made me redundant and unless I get a sales job in the next few weeks, my visa requires that I leave the country. It's a shame since I'm only 2 months shy of residency.
Anyway - yes, I noticed the bike not far from my house, called the cops, and ended up getting it back. It's been fantastic for the last few months, but won't do me any good if I'm out of the country, so alas - it's for sale :(
