From Stuff
"Up to 100 Hawke's Bay prisoners are being moved to alternative accommodation after their cells were found to be mouldy"

Interesting, no such concern shown for the thousands of New Zealanders living in similar or worse conditions.
Especially in some of the sub standard / damp accomodation that Housing NZ sends clients to, if you read the Listener article a few months back.
I have a better idea, give them a some bleach and a scrubbing brush, and get them to clean up the mould every day, till repairs are done.

I did some work there in the remand wing a couple of years back. A couple of prisoners started having a bit of a exchange of views which meant that both prison officers had to attend . " For security Sir, we will have to lock you in the office " they said. Turns out the office was a converted cell complete with toilet and no handle on my side of the door. Must have been 20 or 30 minutes before they let me out, was getting a little concerned I might add. What if they found out I rode a Honda ?

Its pretty sad when we take more care and show more concern for convicted prisoners than we do for our elderly and some of our families.

Prison don't just have prisoners. There's the guards too and it's there work place. If there is a safety issue (mould) then it's gets fixed. Get spores on ya lungs and ya in deep shit.
