Hi folks,

Is anyone planning on going to Red Baron in Auckland any time soon? I see they have a 1998 Blackbird and I'd be interested in an unbiased opinion on the bike. Just general info like general condition, any scrapes damage etc.

I'm down in Wellington so don't want to waste time going up there to find it's not quite what I was hoping for.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Mike

Hiya

The Blackbird is for sale up in Auckland....that's why I was hoping someone on here might have seen it or might see it in the next few days and be able to offer an opinion on it.

Mind you, a little road trip to Auckland might be nice!

Fantastic, that would be great. I've spoken to them and they say it's in "exceptional" condition but it would be nice to hear a real world opinion!

Just got back from Red Baron, looks pretty good, only visual problems are a bit of a dent on the left exhaust, and some cracks in the fairing around the left wing mirror. The sales guy (who must've been the guy you talked to) said that was probably from a drop. Aparently the fairing has been mended underneath, just not on top. Got some photos with my phone, will upload them tonight if I can find my cable.

If that a bike in "exceptional" condition, I'd be interested to know what Red Baron considers a bike in "average" condition.

Big selection, even bigger prices! Sometimes hilariously so...

They do seem quite happy to pass over keys though :)

The '98 Blackbird is the last of the carbed models. Unless you have a compelling reason for wanting carbs, I'd go for a '99 model or later as they have FI and you won't have to periodically have the carbs synchronised.
