Well, actually I don't, I just prefer to back Holden during Bathurst, but I digress - this story is about my experience with a dumb-arse twat who was driving a V8 EB Falcon this morning and had a midlife crisis twinge when he saw me...
5:30am - I'm heading towards work down Brougham street, long, straight, empty - bar a handful of cars and a lone biker.
In front of me are two cars, with me in the left lane - one V8 EB Falcon, and a red Prelude in the right, following would not normally a problem for me, but the Falcon is bouncing his brake to match speeds with the prelude so he can have a jolly good conversation whilst they drive down the 60kph road at 55kph!
Opportunity knocked at the next set of traffic lights where I split up between them and put about a block between me and them. As it happens, I was now riding along at a sneeze over 60kph, with a small alto-like car in the right lane beside me, and all was well... until...
I'm passing through the Selwyn/Brougham street intersection, and said Falcon has pedalled up to 80kph and is beside me - ON THE F&*KIN LEFT!(Keeping in mind I am in the left lane) The psycho had pulled into the left turning lane and booted it to try and push past me with his amazing v8 power.
Now by the time I'd realised he was beside me trying to upset my otherwise sedate ride to work, I had also dropped two gears and accelerated a length ahead of him, at which point I jammed on my brakes rather hard in an attempt to adjust his headlights, and followed with a quick blip putting a block between me and him, sitting on 80kph just to add some room I look into my mirror to see mr Midlife-Crisis in the right lane doing 150-ish, closing like I was standing still, to his annoyance, I repeated my earlier two-gear drop, and wait until he is nearly beside me when I opened the bike right up and left him well behind, shattering any illusion he had of his pig-iron v8 being a performance machine.
ok, I'm done ranting.

Good on you. :killingme :killingme Yep it sounds like a midlife thing. Mind you it was all at low speed. :msn-wink: I am a Ford supporter and the kids have the cloths but I must say it is so common to see the Fords doing the mad stuff. Must be a mans thing.

I love riding along sedately in 2nd / 3rd while a see a boy "racer" setting himself up behind me and then cane it. I wait until he's just about even with me and then I cane it. They never even make it past me. The look on their faces is the best part.
(Err, only happened once, but still  )

some people are really ignorant about motorbikes ability and skill required to ride them.
but still they fuck with us all the time, like the prick who was in a similar situation, ford XR8 in front of me, took hostility to my 1st gear riding (i do it between lights as I'm lazy as hell), he waits for me to move into the lane next to him and starts swerving into my lane, I got abit of a fright but am getting used to the driving around here, so I figure - ok mr 'cool' doesnt like me for whatever reason (even a 250 makes an ear piercing sound around 13k rpm so I drive past him ignoring his 'swerving' and stop at the orange light, he stops and starts yelling at me - I ignored as I think I was alittle outsized he was a very big guy. so I just sat at the lights and took of as I normally do (full blip) and idle down to 50 he comes up beside me and starts 'reving' his amazing powerhorse of a machine, I laughed to myself humbly - and went through the roundabout thinking what a toss, entering the 80kph zone I speed up abit and look in my mirror in time to see him gun it past me - I wasnt impressed so 3rd to get the revs nice in high, and then blast straight past him in the same lane while waving humbly, I then took off and turnt off into the dairy laughing all the way there... considering that i'm in a humble little 250 parrellel twin which is a joke in its self.
just thought Id ad my ford experience (p.s go the holden)

They dont even bother with my new bike, once i had a play drag with a boy racer , and our exhaust were about even for revs/loudness. So i rode off even with him, changed at 6 just like him (big smile on his face about now), only for me to wave, drop the throttle, and let it got to 13 till i changed to 3rd, repeated again in 3rd.....then i couldnt find him.
I think the aveage 50 could beat a car sometimes.

I myself love a good japper, my parents just bought an RX-8, thank god they got rid of the new beetle by trading it in. Can't wait for a ride in it. Although if I had to buy a V8, it would be holden, but if it was a 6cyl, definitely the Ford XR6 Turbo.
P.S a V8 and I would probably buy one of those Toyota soarers, but if it was between H and F, ... H

At the drags today we decided we needed a really big fan to keep the whole crew a bit cooler in the pits. We figured a ford V8 would probably be about right running the fan, I mean what else are they good for?? Then it was pointed out that being a ford it probably wouldn't last long enough to cool anything. The little electric fan we had for the clutch was a bit wimpy but it sure was a bit cooler with the hose up your t-shirt.
