Suzuki 250cc Intruder run-in?

Hi all,
Serious newbie both to the site and biking having just mothballed my trusty Yamaha Jog 50cc so apologies if my question is a bit dumb, but....
Just bought a 250cc Suzuki Intruder, strapped the L plate on the back and started riding. Found the starting to be a bit slow and jerky but otherwise its all good.
I would be grateful to any of you fine guys and gals for tips, hints and general stuff in relation to running in a new bike as well as the obligatory 'wee wee taking' that us two wheeled virgins deserve. If anyone has one of these babies then I would lov to hear from you.

run it in as you intend to ride it, ie, let it warm up for a minute before taking off in the morning, mix up where you ride, open road, varying speed, bit of hill work using gears to get results, Just DONT ring its neck in the first 500-1000kms, Best results always seem to try and run it in in one or two hits, ie not around town in traffic, take her for a couple of 300km out of town runs .
Keep her well maintained, stick to the service intervals and it will do you proud..

Aha, a pie expert and no mistake.
For those who care the BP @ Papakura does an amazing mince n cheese, get in early because my own personal research shows that they are at their best between 7.30 - 8.30am on a Saturday morning.
Yes, I know this statistic is very sad but as I keep telling the missus, research is everything. I also told here that once you've had fat you will necer look back. Dont think that went down well.....!
Also told her not to worry about my 3" winkie cos I have 120kg to push it in with...she's till getting to grips with that one.....

OO another one in Auckland, I'm on the Shore, what about you?
Did you get black or silver? Mine is black (and always dusty :()
The owners manual says to not go past half throttle for the first 800km and then 3/4 until 1600km. Which would be VERY hard to stick to, I tried, but I've settled for just not giving the motor too much shit. Just avoid sitting at one speed, keep it moving. And I wouldn't think about sitting in stop start traffic until after 1000km.

I'm up to about 350km or something I think.. havn't had a chance to ride in about a week.

I'm over in East Auckland, got myself a black one.
Weather has been custard the last couple of days so the beast has been chained up in the garage.
Thanks for the tips on the bike. I'll give it a go once I get out there.

rape the tits off it during break-in. Rings need to be pushed into the bores while they are still rough to ensure best seal.
