Due to me doing a trademe search, and my poor wee very rare katana's motor going nah mate im sick of this shit get walking....

When an opportunity knocks for a spares bike well....

I couldn't resist... :whistle:

Below is the current one that likes to slurp oil and jump out of 2nd gear....

Ah well the madness of restoration and making 2 monsters into one continues :P

mate, my advice to you is to get rid of the engine that jumps out of 2nd gear. I had the same problem, it did not end nicely... Little metal bits fall of the gear cog and clog your poor engine :'( ... the engine then siezes... and as murphies law suggests you will be going 100km/h at that point, your chain locks up and you will start drifting.. after that point the story will vary depending on the skill of the rider present. To fix the problem unless you are an uber mehanic it will set you back $1.5K < I would adivise you to get a new one... And since that one likes to slurp oil too... mate, maybe its time to move on... I can see you are going to enjoy yourself doing this, take your time and all will be well.
As darrel said, if it smokes, but dosnt rattle, its far from dead.
I would not be very concerned with the second gear jumping out, we dicussed that fix which was the same as the xs.
You have the ability to get it right,
