Well, CB (normajeane) and I had a free weekend so to start the rally season we went on the HOG run to Queenstown last weekend.

Left Riviera of the South in the company of 7 or 8 other 'hoggers' and headed to Gore, temp. was only about 7 degrees so when we stopped in Gore heated grips were the 'hot' topic.
We gassed up and then headed down to Five Rivers for lunch where we met the Southland contingent then on to Queenstown via the Devils Staircase, looked and sounded great with 20 bikes in the column weaving its way through the twisties.

We then went for a (drinking) cruise on Lake Wakatipu (wokatip to locals) for an hour or three then off to sample the jar-shops (pubs) of Q'town before hitting the sack.

Sunday we got up, had breky at Bobs Weigh and then in a 6 degree temp. we headed for home via Cromill and Jantar Territory and Clodvale.

Point I noticed:

HOG members rider cruuuuiiiise, not too much scraping etc,
They DO wave at other bikes,
Shitload were waay richer than CB and Scummie but didn't seem to care.

AND..this time of year can be ferkin cold!

Last Friday I took the Princesses ER6n for a ride from Dunas out to the farm and back - haven't been that farking cold in years.
The hot grips were great but I really missed the hand guards the Tiger and most adventure bikes have - I didn't realize what a huge difference they make. Without them the inside of my hands were warm and the outside was bloody freezing.
The airflow over that bike and my size meant I was getting the full wind blast about the bottom of my ribs and it didn't take long for the cold to be felt through my jacket in spite of the thermal liners - I don't know how you Harley riders do it in that legs apart "come fuck me" riding position. You must cop all that cold air in all the most uncomfortable places???!!!
Maybe thats why you only cruise slowly - nothing to do with scraping footpegs???
Having said all that the wee ER6 is a bunch of fun to ride and can really get into it when you give it a few revs:whistle:
