Crashin' the Coro loop

Saturday afternoon, Mrs What?, myself and a visitor from Pomgolia were returning back down the coast from Coromandel, found a bike in the ditch (a few others with him in an un-crashed state) and a rather sore and sorry looking rider.
The dude was sore and cut, but otherwise looked OK. Had lost the front on a left-hander, possibly on oil.
I went on to phone an ambo - seemed to have to go bloody miles to get reception.
There's a lesson here somewhere, and when I figure out what it is, I will post it. Meanwhile, feel free to guess...

Whats going on? There seems to be another "period" of biker carnage. That's 5 I know of today and yesterday. PLEASE be careful guys/gals. The black stuff under your bike is Very Very hard!

Thats part of the problem StoneChucker it is not hard, it is all soft and runny and it is not giving too much grip. It is good and sticky and filling the tyres nicely but when it is all filled up somethin has to give :yeah: :yeah:

seems to be an epidemic of wrecks.. enough to keep any self-respecting superstitios fellow indoors. ohwell would have gotten pulled over and bike taken away so it worked out for me except my house doesnt have a/c and even with all the windows and doors open it still wont cool down

most probably due to summer actually turning up at last! Our rubbish roads will be melting again no doubt (not that I've had the pleasure of tar dodging with the bike STILL not going). More heat= more bikers which inevitably = more crashes.

I think the crashed bike may have been a Hogly, but I didn't look. He was in a group of Hoglys, a smoky XS650 special and a late model Triumph. I didn't actually look at the bike as there were plenty of others to do that - I was more interested in the welfare of the rider.
Dead right about our el-cheapo roads melting. Funny thet in places like FN Queensland (or Fiji!) they don't melt like they do here. Transit's policy of "cheapest quote gets the job" seems to be way out of line with their own road safety strategies.
