MotoGP and SBK

Hi guys, I'm just getting interested in a bit of bike racing but I can't seem to find any info on the technical regs for MotoGp and SBK.

From what I can figure MotoGp runs 600cc bikes and SBK are litre bikes? Is this right and what kind of power do the bikes from both series put out? Is there any particualr reason why MotoGp is generally considered to be a cut above SBK?

GP are 1000cc or 500cc Two stroke's SBK have a 600cc class & the 998cc class GP bike's are around 230 rwhp & SBK about 185 rwhp GP's are just that much faster through been lighter & more HP so take's some Excellent skill's to keep them on the track . Alot of SBK rider's have tryed GP & find the going alot harder to be up front with the Top guy's . Both great veiwing thou .

Its 990cc 4 strokes for Moto GP and they have to be prototypes i.e. not production based. Regs can be found at the FIM site here http://www.fim.ch/en/default.asp?item=26#

MotoGP is the premiere class because the bikes are worth megabucks and its akin to F1 cars - you don't see them on the street and as I said above they are prototypes unlike the Superbike and Supersport (the 600s) that are based on street machines.
