Unbelievably... I might just get my wish!!! :first: Stoked at this stage, but we'll see...

Yes, I'm the Big Brother devil that Orwell warned you about, but there's a war going on...

wanted to be a cop......after my interactions with cops, there is no way in HELL i'll ever be a cop....

Perhaps the interaction you had has given you a warped perception of what theyr'e really like? you know they are quite normal behind closed doors when your not being told off right?! lol......

I wanted to join the Navy, as I lived on a yacht as a kid, then I wanted to fly a Skyhawk for the A/Force, and be a Firefighter, and a Cop, hahaha.

Now- Been in the Navy, "re-treaded" to the Air Force (obviously not as a SkyHawk Pilot!) - now a firefighter, hmmmm, dunno maybe i'll swap uniforms again at some stage just to complete my list......! I think anything with flashing lights and a siren I wanted to be a part of, pretty sure I wanted to be a paramedic too....

At the age of 5 I was telling family members I wanted to 14 kids and no husband, but I found out where kids come from :shit:

At Primary School I wanted to be a vet.....found out I would have to put animals down, so that was a no go.

At High School I wanted to be a police officer, went to the recruiting officer in Gizzy and he promptly told me I was too short!

Then I wanted to be an Accountant, but I hate numbers. Then I wanted to join the Army, but I didn't like to be shouted out...made me cry. Then I wanted to become a Manager, but I can barely organise myself let alone anyone else!

I am a general dogs body/admin/pa/reception bitch at a company that sells businesses.

Professional Mechanical Engineer is what I wanted to be.

A chat about the future showed me a business degree would take me places an Engineering Degree wouldn't... so I did that instead - to my enduring regret I might add.

And now I sell Software.

hmmmm let me see in order i wanted to be : firetruck, bulldozer (damn you transformers), eskimo, scientist, rocket person (don't ask), designer, bar tender and then a gun for hire.

i am now a glorified, educated, bored, salesman.......and anyone else who tells you "no im not actually a salesman..." is a really good salesman. I'm a crap salesman, as engineering doesn't tend very easily to money and sales.

i want to go back to design.....:crybaby:

Wanted to be a panelbeater. Got talked out of it 'cos a couple of carmakers built cars of fibreglass...looked like it might have become THE thing for cars, making panelbeating redundant.

Bad call. Ended up as an electrician and remained so for my whole career.

No regrets.

I wanted to be an under water welder, but I would not have been allowed to based on medical grounds.
Went fishing as a deckhand for the better part of a decade then became a registered nurse. Then I messed it all up by having a serious spinal cord and got my marching orders from TDHB, once again based on medical grounds. Now Im being told that I would make a great psychologist, will seriously consider it if ACC want to pay for me to do it, otherwise I'll have to go back to being a general dogs body but disabled.

Oh FE I love your cheeky fun spirit.

I wanted to be a heap of things.

Initially I wanted to be wonder woman...but those shorts got outta style so quick!
Seriously though I wanted to be an elite Gymnast but my training went by the way side when we moved to Singapore and with all the heat I grew up got too tall and developed a generous set of boobs  the death of a dream!
Then I wanted to be a journalist but hated the having to pry too much thing that journos do so decided instead to take the photos...but I liked it too much and I found that photographing random peoples weddings get me down...boring!!!! Stopped enjoying it once I was being paid for it so gave it away.
Then I decided that I would join the army to get paid while I train...but they didn't want me due to my asthma. SO I did the course I had enrolled in anyway - Dental Technology...making dentures, crowns, bridges and noses and ears. Apart from the fantastic smell of acrylic curing it bored me stupid and I couldn't forsee living my life from a lab surrounded in plaster casts of the insides of peoples mouths.
Then I went into Learning and Development in HR - which I love....and I have come full circle because as a working mum with a full and busy life it seems I am still trying to be Wonder Woman.

My ultimate goal for 'when I finally grow up' is to be a kept woman! I think the official job title is BIMBO...yeah I could handle that. Now, how do I find me a sugar daddy

Young child: A spy! Or rally car driver :D

Teenager: Subaru or Mitsi world rally team press manager or air force pilot.

Current options: Motorsport journalist, medical geologist or volcanologist.

Spare time/holiday career option: Giving aid to third world countries (EG: helping build houses, clean the streets, educate children... :) )

I think anything with flashing lights and a siren I wanted to be a part of, pretty sure I wanted to be a paramedic too....

Hahahaha - that is so funny - when I was about 14 my mother got my much older brother to take me out for a drive and discuss my ambitions for my future. He said - You need to decide what you want to do when your older... I replied that I wasnt sure. After a while he got pissed with me and said that I needed to give my mum some idea of what I wanted to do for a career and I told him I would like to do something that involved flashing lights and sirens.
He got real pissy then and told me not to be so bloody immature and how I needed to get my head out of the clouds.

Now... Im a Paramedic :wari:

When I was a kid I wanted to be a mechanic. When I left school I became a mechanic. I soon realised it wasn't what it was cracked up to be, so I went back to tech and did my NZCE (Mech of course lol) and even did Maths4 thinking I'd one day go straight into the 2nd Pro year of a degree, but after working with degree engineers I quickly decided against that - they're glorified ordering clerks for the most part. So now I'm a contract mechanical draughtsman mainly in the dairy and other food industries doing interesting stuff with machines and processes. It's like being a mechanic but with no dirty fingernails.

I grew up around trucks, and always wanted to be a truck driver.I still do - but I know it would be a boring as shit job.But the reason I grew up around trucks was because my father was a truck mechanic....and being a mechanic is all I've ever wanted to be,so much still to learn and do in my life time job I've never done anything else.Plus I get to drive all the cars, trucks, bikes, tractors, and operate all the equipment I have worked on....so no need to do the boring part of being a paid operator of said stuff.

I always wanted to be a Fitting room attendant in a lingerie shop! Be a good job that!!

But left school early worked in the building industry for a few years. Then qualified Panelbeater for 15 or so years. Then sick of the bog dust and welding splatter after five years leading hand on the chassis machine went back and started my own building company.
Now I'm an architectural draughtsman, working for myself, predominantly designing second story transformations in 3d through to building consent!

Anyone want any alterations done???

Excuse my ignorance whats a medical geologist?

I'm not sure if it's the correct name, but it involves travelling the world, and helping to improve people's lives by natural means. Eg: High levels of aresenic in water in China, causes poisoing. So then, from a geo point of view, how can we make it better or solve the problem? :)

I've never had any firm idea of what I wanted to do for a crust. In fact, I still don't know and I'm pushing 28.

Obviously, I had to do something so I managed to bullshit my way into a software development company when I was 21. I went Software Support > Technical Writer > Business Analyst. I'm still in IT, now working as a Technical Analyst at a consultancy company. It's not for me but I'll fall into something else when I move cities eventually...

When I was very young, I wanted to be a hairdresser and go all creative on the blue rinse brigade - but I wasn't able to, so then I decided that I rather liked the idea of being a librarian all prim and proper on the outside and raging lunatic on the inside - but I wasn't allowed to do that either (long story!).

Then I decided I wanted to race cars, but I wasn't allowed to buy one - I sort of petered out of ideas then, apart from having grand notions of being a kept woman at one stage.....

Great thread, a good read

As a kid wanted to be anything with a siren as a few have said, a racing car driver, an astronaut, a tank commander in the army, you know, all that boys stuff.

My first real job was starting a car washing business, was about 9yrs old lol. I decided against a fixed price to curb people saying no after a few hit & misses, I asked instead for a "donation", this proved to be very lucrative. All the people that donated a low amount never got a 2nd visit which improved my limited time he he.

As a teenager wanted to be a welder like my dad, but earn ten times what he did, ie: a diving welder. Turned out I didn't really like welding as much as I thought I would.

Jobs in order:

Self employed car washer at age 9 lol
Paper run
Welder
Chef
Barman
Waiter
Car salesman
Property salesman
Commercial property consultant
Investment property consultant
Senior investment property consultant/Business advisor
Senior financial consultant specialising in tax effective investment property
Senior investment property consultant
Bum for a year (he he)
Manager
Process worker in a chicken factory lol
bad bike accident (ACC bum)
Aluminium extrusion process worker
Manager
Manager/Business owner

Always like computers or any electronic hardware but ended up as a software developer. It pays much better.
