Got all Dilanas stuff downloaded from her website. Damn Good singer!
Amy Lees, Evinesence concert in Auck (last year?) was just bloody brilliant.
And I even went to see Suzy Quatro a few months ago when she was here! The old girl looks ok for her age and she can still play the bass and rock the joint "thats for sure"!!

The first is "the" Pat Benatar and this is a recent vid of her.

All the original vids are a great watch but many can't be imbedded. If you want to see her in her heyday 30 years ago, check out the vids on yourtube.

I reckon she could re-release those songs and they'd still sell. I remember a huge Pat Benatar poster on the wall in the flat as a student. God she was stunning.

Surely you must have run into their somewhat later classic Alone - quite a different style being a power ballad:

I think why is that in 1977 my musical taste was David Bowie, Queen, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, by 1979-80 it was all about the punk rock, and it didnt broaden until probably the 90's. This band's biggest success was 70's and 80's and I would have dismissed them immediately because they didnt conform to what a "proper" band was. The irony of that is not lost on me.

So I have quite a deep collection, but its quite narrow, and this just was nowhere on my radar.

and having just listened to that "Alone" song: its everything I despise in music. Not my idea of cool at all.

Lol. I used to live in Johnsonville as well for a spell. I moved to Wellington from Auckland. What a culture shock. Auckland with nothing happening and Wellington with all these live bands playing in parks etc. Bands that would soon be on TV. That was a great era for Kiwi bands that hasn't existed since. They produced songs that should have easily been on the international stage.

Do you remember "Stark Naked and the Car Thieves" and their remake of "Nice Legs Shame About The Face".

fascinating. I have never ever heard of this band or these people before. I clicked your link and quite like the song. Further investigation warranted. Its not like other "heard of, not heard" bands, I literally have never even heard OF them. and I thought I knew a bit about music. Obviously not.

Oh yeah - Heart, an excellent band. I was lucky enough to see them in Boulder, Colorado in 1981. 8 hour concert with George Thorogood at midday, later Heart, then......The Rolling Stones.

Ok, my formulation wasn't perfect. I never meant she couldn't sing - it's just her (own) music which sucks arse. No Doubt was fine, been going downhill since then.

But yes, her face is an odd looking one in my eyes. And body-wise I prefer more curves... without compromising slimness.
