Friend just bought a 50cc scooter to get around on -- probably my influence, I keep boasting about how good two wheels are around town
It's an Arrow 50, Chinese made thing. Not what I'd have recommended him, but they got it for the right price and it went all right when they tested it out. 2007, but only 650kms, which is a worry.
Not starting when they got it delivered. Went for a bit then died. They pulled the carb off, hooked the float valve up wrong, and then it wouldn't' go at all. Spark is a little dull, but not too bad really, but it's got an Torch A7RC for a plug, so we'll see if the NGK match (CR7HSA) will improve matters.
Got it running after putting the carb back right. Now we have a new problem -- it started up first kick (battery feeling pretty tired by now), revved its nuts off because I had the throttle cable way up. Set it right, idle got higher as the engine heated up, so lowered idle even more. Once hot, it ran nicely, started off kick and starter, did 60kph or so (but he reckons it's a little slower than when he tested it, although performance seemed to improve once it warmed up).
Now, just as I go to leave, it won't start again. By this time the engine is cold. Holding the throttle open to simulate the maladjusted idle speed doesn't work, but then again it might be flooded by now.
For the life of my I couldn't find a choke. The only think that looked like it might be it was these wires going into the carb. WTF does a carb need two wires for? The go to a little solenoid looking thing, which has a strange rubber gasket seal and ports to somewhere. Is this an electric enrichening circuit? Can I check if it's working?
