Lee Freestyle who stunts a SV650 had a huge crash this afternoon.
We were out at our secret spot in sth auckland and he was practising doing stoppies up to a concrete wall.
He came in really fast and locked up his front tyre, then he released it, then he tried brake to stop hittin the wall and low sided and hit the wall at speed.
Me and dan knew it was pretty bad just by how hard he hit it.
Bike has twisted forks and bent up handle bars, apart from that its pretty good, cage took most of it.
Lee has a sprained angle and a destroyed left wrist (going into surgery now) will have updates on him as they come.

Im guessing he is happy in the knowledge that riding towards a concrete wall was not the smartest thing he has ever done?
Insurance payout will be tough.

What a f*cking pointless waste of a good SV650. Tell you what, next time you dipshits want to get rid of one, just ask me, I'll take it off your hands rather than have you ride the damn thing into a wall.

Hope Lee makes an uneventful recovery! Sucks when stunts go wrong...

One question though. Cage took most of it. What cage?

yeah his custom made cage, its pretty sweet, but it tends to make the bike roll a bit to much so hes rebuildin it
can see the top of it in those 2 pics, were it attaches to the frame

Stunt cage. Comes in various shapes/sizes, but basic idea is that it mounts around the sides of the bike, to protect the engine/frame when it falls on its side. Made from tubes of steel (or metal at least).
Downside (from road riding point of view) is that clearance on lean angle is diminished, but not a major for the stunters.

Reminds me of a story I heard of a mechanic down here in Dunedin who used to pull a wheelie every morning coming into his work yard and stop just short of a brick wall. Inevitably one day of course he managed to fuck it up and smacked straight into the brick wall and killed himself.
:stupid:
:weird:

Perhaps this is obvious but if you are just "practising" why would you not do it in front something softer? I can think of a whole bunch of things that would do less damage than a brick wall. Anyway bla bla Dawin Awards bla bla.

UPDATE:
lee.ni.s has had his op this arvo, and had one of the best ortho-pods available, who, on learning what lee.ni.s does for a living, worked hard with his team, and have mod'd the factory std wrist plates/pins and fitted a special aftermarket bionic component that will give lee.ni.s similar powers to steve austin crossed with inspector gadget...so watch out you haters that posted your less than positive thoughts in response to this thread....:bleh: (know before you judge n all that...)
....finally...a good investment has been made with my acc levies!!...can't wait to see how the new bionic/inspector gadget bits function :devil2:

Sad to hear about the crash, hope the secret spot is away from the public etc and you are not endangering others, if so good on you having fun, taking your own risks without endangering the public, and improving your skills is a great idea.

Actually there is a childrens playground on one side of the spot and a home for old people on the other. We try to avoid the kids but the oldies should know better...

Ouch...
He could have just asked me if he wanted to know what that would feel like.
I could have told him that it hurts like hell!
Best of luck for a fast recovery and be back stunting asap! :headbang:
