Argh, fuck.

$400 fine, exceeding learner limit of 70km/h. Was going 100km/h. What a cock.

Dropped the helmet the other night and was out today looking at buying a new one, now that this has happened there goes that idea for a month. :crybaby:

Nobody to blame but myself, I'd better wait 3 more months until I get my restricted license.

Take it this was on the Norwestern? That's 2 in 2 weeks that I know of. The other was dead on 100km/h as well.

Given the rules are about to change it's pretty sad to see that rule being enforced unless the rider is doing 120 or something.

Nah, I don't think it works like that. I read here somewhere a learner (Waiuku way I think) got caught doing 120ish. He got two tickets - first for exceeding by 20ish and the second for breach of license conditions. Maybe it depends on the plod and he got off easy?

Yeah I think I got off easy. He could have easily given me a fine for not displaying an L plate, as the L plate had snapped off the other day and I forgot to get another one. Part of the L plate was still attached so he let me off for that.

Badge number removed.

Mate! That blows!! I'd be a lot annoyed about that, if that happened to me..

Yeah the cop pulled me over because he thought I didn't have a rego or WOF thing displayed. His eyes must suck.

Nah originally he was pulled over doing speed readings with the gay reader thing... next thing I know he's in my mirror with the flashies on. Not "speeding" (over 110km/h).

Given the choice of the two options - put off paying the fine for a month or getting a new helmet - get the new helmet.

You can still pay the fine next month, but a new helmet - just not worth the risk!!!

Remember - you can claim a new helmet on contents insurance. So you only have to pay the excess.

Once again they blow their credidibility to the public. If he was honest about it and just said yes everything would be above board. Makes me wonder what else they hide away from the public eye when they say silly shit like that...:bash::crazy:

No quota yeah right, shit might submit that to tui for their competitions.

Then why were there 3 cops/2 cars parked on the bend in Hunterville yesterday in town with a laser getting cars approaching from Bulls. The cars were parked on Bruce St and they were discretely standing behind the plant stands? hard to see.

And they were there from 10.00am till I left my job at 12.30pm,and still there in the showers.

I have no problem with cops ticketing people for breaking the law,but nitpicking is out,i.e zero tolerances for speed. They seem to be told don't use your descretion for each offence just invoice the crim.

And the stupedist thing is a couple of weeks ago, total checkpoint on both lanes in Foxton, cops checked wof, rego, surely they should've done license check?,nope so any disqualified drivers get off,or it could be I was in a work vehicle,so they assumed my license was current.

I'm a real dick but it's time to go to Rorotua from Auckland at 80km/h.

Have been planning it for a few weeks and porky ain't gonna stop me.

70 is too slow you would hold up traffic or get run over. how stupid.

Something tells me that you gave off some sort of 'tell'...or the cop involved is related? to the GingaPrick...to be ticketed for the 70+ thing is (almost) unheard of.
But just in case you are thinking of sticking to about the 70 thing on open roads...if you value your life, you will do what the traffic is doing. Better the infinitesimal risk of another pinging, than the very real risk of becoming roadkill.
There is always the 'white corolla' story anyway...

Yep, thast's niggling at me as well. I think this is the first time i've heard of a Learner getting a 100kmh ticket.

Were you splitting or lane swapping or anything like that? Maybe your bike is really loud? I don't know, but something made him jump in his car and come after you. What would it have been?

I would write in on that one and point out how you used to ride that road at 70 and how dangerous it was (give examples, close calls etc) which forced you to do the same speed as the traffic. Point out that you had also taken note that the 70km law is about to be revoked and from that you have got the impression that the road safety authorities agree that 70 is unsafe in a 100km zone.

Second I've heard of in a week. Think MSTRS hit the nail on the head.

Will try to find out if it's the same badge number in both cases.

It's great fun having big huge ass trucks five metres from my back wheel all the way to and from Rotorua. I'm writing in to the cops about the ticket.

Definitely write a begging letter and see if you can get off the ticket on the grounds that the 70kph thing is an unsafe rule that's about to be changed anyhow.
