Had a great day today. Took the VL250 out for it's maiden run. I am a serious newbie biker, been 50cc mopeddng it for the last three years but today was the day I went for my first big ride on a geared bike since getting my learners 2 weeks ago.

Ive been communting 40kms a day on the CV50 from East Auckland into town and back so I am quite used to the road but you can never take it for granted. One thing I noticed from scooting around is that you really see the worst in peoples driving, so much that the 'trouble n strife' reckons I have become a more cautions car driver (I like when she talks about cars and bikes, at least it means she is not giving me shit about using her flannel to wash my arse in the shower....)

Blimey, where was I.......

Great weather, bike handled really well (once I sorted the clutch out) and bar 1 stall in a 2 hour ride, all went really well. I'm as happy as larry so it's full time biking from tomorrow morning.

One thing that really helps is all the great advice and words of wisdom you get on this site. Thanks to you guys for taking the time to answer queries, offer pointers and allow us L platers to benefit from all the experience.

So there you go, thought I would say a big thanks to you all...might have a beer and watch the warriors, eh.

Take care, ride safe and eat pies.....

Hah I'm in the same boat, moving up from a long stay on a fiddy to a real bike. I've found the most incredible part is that instead of speeding more - I'm speeding less. With great power etc etc
Good luck!

Good one mate you can have some serious fun on a 250.

I got a bit silly one year and rode from Dunedin to Taupo on my NSR.
