Are definately worth talking too if you have a problem you want help with.
In contacted Deano the other day and we met up today to go over a couple of things... emergency breaking practice was one. After a just a few runs, Deano's observations showed I wasn't useing the front break enough
Couple more runs and I learnt that the breaks are NOT going to kick you off every time if you pull on em to hard, even locking the rear didn't seem so bad..
Some advice on tightening my chain and a qucik adjustment of the clutch cable and I learnt more in that hour than I have in the past two months riding on my own.
If anyone was considdering talking to one of the mentors but couldn't get past the pride, I know all or just can't be arssed..... get off it and give am a shout. Its WELL WORTH IT!
Thanks again Deano... hahahaaa Fuk off just joke'n....:2thumbsup

Brakes are highly over rated!
I couldnt aggree more though. Its well worth speaking to the experienced riders out there. They dont bite and are usually happy to help out.

Hi,
It's my first time on the site so pleaz be gentle. Just wanted to say how I think this site rocks, I'm about to buy my first bike, it's been a bitch to find something to get some miles on that isn't going to cost the earth and will fit my 6ft height. At the mo I'm waiting on a Honda vt250, so looking forward to getting on the road and talking with some experienced riders that take the life of biker seriously.
The mentor idea sounds brilliant and I look forward to chatting more to some Cantabrian riders once I'm mobile.
Thanks for all the great input on braking, restricted licenses and the works.

Good to meetcha last night chick! Will have to get this bikeless situation sorted out before summer so you can get some miles under your belt.
The Wednesday night rides in chch are not a bad place to start, usually they split into a newer/slower group and a faster group so there is a place for all experience levels. I probably wont be able to get to many, given my current state, but there are some pretty good people who do go and they will be more than happy to give you some help if ya need it.
And there is often club racing on at Ruapuna (free to watch for spectators), there is a list on that wee calendar thing you got last night for when and where. Usually I'd be racing but mostly go along to watch now so you are welcome to tag along and get to see some cool racers in action, and get to look at a few bikes to drool over.

Hey true to life, think I'm in the same boat as you. Haha also looking at a Vt250. May see you out some time once we both have bikes. I will need plenty of mentoring too.

yes there are a couple of good people, and some tuggers aswell... I tend to disagree with it being a good place to start as 1/2 of them know shit anyway and are unwilling to learn. they seem to think they know it all allready LMFAO
EDIT: I note that Rashika actualy said 'not a bad place to start' yes and no.
