Interesting reading but part of it is the, in some cases, correct belief that once the light goes orange that the regulators are actually altering the timings of the lights to collect revenue, that would never happen in good old NZ, well it would be more likely who is going to prove then find the powers that be guilty of that one.

Overseas studies are all well and good, but how often do they they relate to local conditions, and if folks were driving properly then there would be no real issue, ie sufficient gaps between vehicles etc then perhaps this would not be an issue, and then folks could obey the lights without having to look in the rear view mirror and worry about the tailgating asshole ramming them.
