You realise most people will think you've bought a Kwaka when you say green don't you? Have you bought one of those Green Norton Commandos that were on Trademe recently (one is still for sale here in Invegiggle but alas I'm broke). Now one of them would earn you some friends and some serious respect.

Bugger!

I saw your post on this last week, meant to talk to you about it on Friday night. But forgot. :)

I've got a Blue-Ant Interphone, which I find works fairly well, just mono speaker. I only use it for the phone interface (so I can go riding when I'm on call, I have to have a max 30min response time so I can go on short pootles), haven't used the intercom function, but the reviews I've read suggest it goes okay although the battery life may be a bit suspect (in phone mode the battery lasts forever. As in days & days).

But the one I've seen online which I'd buy if I was getting one now is the new Camos BTS-300 (http://www.benchmarkhelmets.com/products/imc-camos-bts-series_52/bts300_83.html). Does the long range intercom thing (so you and Monie can get one each and chat while you're riding), plus bluetooth for your phone, plus it's also stereo and supports the A2DP Bluetooth stereo protocol so you can use something like a bluetooth adaptor for an ipod and send stereo to your helmet if you want music. And it's got some priority thing so phone calls (or GPS prompts) will override the stereo (ie mute the music).

No idea if you can get them in NZ, or if you'll have to order direct from the US.

# Bluetooth® 2.0 Technology for Highest Quality Stereo Audio
# Bike to Bike Intercom Range of up to 500 meters (maximum range achieved in open road, low traffic conditions)
# High Quality Slim Fit Stereo Speakers (6mm in depth)
# Large Mute Button for Increased Safety
# Waterproof Case
# Full Face (soft wire) Microphone and Boom Microphone Provide Unmatched Noise Cancellation.
# Easy Mounting via Clip On Mounting System or Double Sided Tape Mount Fits to any Helmet
# Full Duplex Wireless Intercom
# Micro USB Headset Connector Allows Easy Transfer Between Headsets.

I bought it with the intent of wanting to do longer rides like that, so it was part of the plan. :) Mind you, I wouldn't mind a stripped-down cruiser for shorter rides - something like the new Cross Bones. It's a bit of an acquired taste, but I like 'em!

Really loving the bike so far - the sound, the look, the rider, it all just brings a smile to the face. The wind protection from the fairing is particularly effective, it really doesn't feel like you're doing 100km/h when you hit the limit. But the bike was surprisingly solid in the gusty conditions we had today - the Hyosung used to get blown around a lot more.

As for that new Kawasaki - I'm not convinced by the styling, they're going for their own version of an Ultra Classic with the full fairing and lowers, but I don't think they've really nailed the design. The Harley batwing fairing is such a design classic to my mind, like the Coke bottle or the Fender Stratocaster. You either have to flatter it with imitation, or go for something completely different like the Victory Vision. That Kawasaki looks like it's stuck somewhere in between, like it was designed in committee.

That Kawasaki looks like it's stuck somewhere in between, like it was designed in committee.

I quite like it but there's no piccy from the front - the headlight arrangement looks like it may be an acquired taste. We'll know for sure when I hit powerball...

The Vinson is fugly - fullstop, explanation point etc. Kudos for them for doing something different but she's a bit way out for this kid. A mate of mine grabbed a catalogue from their dealer in Auckland the other day and some of their other bikes look ok - the motor in particular looks a lot tidier than an H-D.
