My Partner has been making noises about getting her 6L. Dropped a message into Qkchk to see if she has any free time to give her the run down (i'm just not sure that i'd make a good teacher at all!)

Anywho, have been perusing the marketplace for a suitable bike, and i'm not having much luck.

The problem is her height. She's 5'0" (I'm 6'3" - go figure).

So far, I can only come up with the FXR150, Scorpio Z & GN250.

Is there anything glaringly obvious that i'm missing, or suggestions?

Ta muchly.

Don't forget the Kawasaki EL250 Eliminator. A great ride for the smaller and not so small rider.

An option for a dual purpose bike would be a Kawasaki Super Sherpa.

Otherwise, what they said

I found that my feet were flatter and I was a lot more comfortable on my cbr mc19 than my gf's fxr when she had one. Though I guess the fxr can't exactly squish your gf's balls as such can it... That's what really got me.

I'm 5'2" & it ain't all in my legs, have ducks disease (arse to close to the ground) I went with the VL250 as I was able to get both feet flat:clap: on the ground & found it easy to balance /move around even on hills:eek: ect.

Is a great bike & can do 115 comfortable on the open road

I had a look on another forum and someone recommends this

"I lowered a 2003 sv650 4" for my 5' 1", 100 lb. wife. She absolutely loves it. 3" came from changing the dog bone links and 1" out of the seat, (corbin). Total out of pocket cost: About $300. She also had a Volusia 800 that I lowered 2" with new dog bones."

may be worth the time for the bike.

I think a Honda Rebel would suit her fine if she's willing to ride cruisers..

I know i'm a wee bit of a tall cunt but my knees hit the handlebars.. designed for short fuckers.

*Ahem* Buy my Rebel >.>

But cruisers in general are the way to go for shorter folk.. you can't really compare with your Hyo-bag. That things massive..

We may have to pop round to view your selection of sale bikes there Nagash, i'd be quite keen if she liked the Mooter myself, so I can. .......... test it......

I'm wit Imbray on this one. I am 5ft 4in and can get both feet down flat and it is real easy to balance. A great first bike. Smooth, comfortable easy to ride etc. My only complaint is wind resistance which I guess is standard cruiser issue. So am going to get a screen for mine. Otherwise a great ride.
Good luck.

I dunno about a little person's bike, but it's an impressive looking little bike.

Yeah, what Hitcher said. Mrs Oakie who is also 5 foot nothing had an Eliminator (until a couple of young dicks stole it) and it fitted her perfectly. She now has a CB250FM (a.k.a. 'Jade') which is also not a bad fit either.

Suzuki GZ250 is an option too.
I am 5'3" and this was a great bike to learn on. A little better looking than a GN250. The GZ is like a baby cruiser.

What about a CBR125? The guy I work with got one for his missus and she stands about the same height and can feel the ground with no issue. The bike is light and nimble - good to learn on and looks just like it's big brother.

I was going to recommend the VL250 aswell. But I was beaten to it by the shorter riders :) I'm 6'1" and it's nearly perfect for me (I sometimes feel I'd like the pegs to be further away, making me want to put the pillion seat back on so I can sit up there ), but as you can see it's great for people shorter too.

It's a bit on the heavy side for a 250 though??

Actually, I should add that it felt like any 250 would be good for a short rider.. all the sport kind of bikes that I sat on felt really cramped in the legs. So I went for the VL250. (That and it was the same price as all the 15 year old bikes that had no warranty)

to be honest.. i hunted around for bikes for ages.. i stand at 4.11 so i been on all the bikes.. you will find that the gns are actually one of the tallest models out there for a 250cc... trust me.. i sat on so many bikes.. spent so much time with motorcycle dealers.. even they were amazed at really how tall a gn is.. in the end i went for a vl250 intruder.. much lower to the ground.. better looking.. easy to slightly modify if need be by lowering front forks a little.. if she is 5 foot shell have no trouble being on it.. and it can keep up with the others.. got great power in her.. im biased i know.. but hey im prob the shortest around and more then willing to share my experience of choosing a bike for all the shorties out there.

oh and by the way its so light for a cruiser.. alot lighter the a virago or gn.. i totally swear.. i only weigh 45 kilos.. and i can handle it no trouble. so those that say its heavy.. hmmmm but thats from my experience lol.. and im alot shorter then you all.. who knows mayb im the shortest on here on KB!!!

GN250s are 20kg lighter. I havn't sat on a GN (I wouldn't consider toucing one :p) but I'd say the weight would feel different because of where you're balancing it from, more awkward to balance with bent legs, or if I stand up my arms aren't in the right place. That.. and I'm a skinny bastard, there's no getting around that.
The virago is 10kg lighter.

Get her to chuck a leg over every bike, in the bike shops, she can LEGALLY ride. See what fits... what she likes...
After the first bike, she will know what she wants...or doesn't want...

if it isnt to late go check out a CBR125R at a honda dealer - thats what we brought as my mrs is also fairly short - yet she can put her feet flat on the ground on the CBR - will do 100km on open road easily - may not like hills much though. i've ridden ours between hamilton and tauranga with no hassles

Had a look at the CBR125, I love it, but she's pretty keen on a 2nd hand bike to start with.

Unfortunately, she's seen my struggles, and learned that something you're not too worried about dropping is probably a good idea.

Looking at TardMe, there doesn't seem to be to many 2nd hands VL250's around.

Why? If you had read the thread, you could see that there are plenty of options available that would be more suited to her size, without going to the hassle, and expense of customising a bike.
