I mean, I start a thread re WC in custom bike building and it gets a couple of replies and a hundred hits.
And then there is some Honda tread that gets 85 replies and 780 hits...
Perhaps I am just on another planet?

Re custom bikes or what they add to a Honda thread?

Maybe everyone either feels inadequate on such a subject, or thats not something they would like to do. Conversely, everyone has some sort of opinion on a honda - its a consumerised generic thing.
It's certainly something I would like to do, but I could not imagine what the meanest bike I would build could be.

Custom bikes for many could be outside their skills or inmagination.
Its not easy putting togeather something that will look good when finnished, you need to do plenty of research before you even start. That can put a lot of people off, when they see the possibile cost of doing it. Its never a budjet thing unless you are very talented, plus have a good workshop.
Deciding on what you want can be fun, looking at what others have done, take a bit from one, a look from another, then find someone who has done a similar thing to what you inmagine.
Custom bikes? yeah, fun to build, frustrating getting some parts made, hard on the pokect, and always after you buy that bling part for x dollars the same thing is available next week for half the price!
I think Hondas may be a drawcard for a lot to do because they are cheap and lend themselves to improvements from the basic model cause they are crap to start with.
So its easier to chase a factory custom, or one with heaps of "custom factory parts" availabile.....a honda lol.

Have you considered Conquiztador a lot of people are probably just not interested in WC style customs. I certainly aren't. But do appreciate the talent and effort that goes into them. We all have different tastes.
I own and ride Hondas so Honda threads are going to grab my attention more, as well as any thread that has cafe/bobber/"standard"/flat track style bikes -for examble Wired1s SR400 project, W650s, Hinkley Bonnies, monsters, XR1200 et al- and some street fighter style bikes . Of course half the Honda thread posts will be of the "Honda riders are gay" type posts.
You are living on the same planet Conquiztador, just a different part of it.

Most of the members of this site are IT workers, they have no practical knowledge of motorcycles....someone else fixes their bikes. They have plenty of opinions, hence the activity on the Honda thread....threads that require them to actually have practical knowledge,um....they just don't go there.

When I fix my bike I tend to make it worse, when I mod it I make it unsafe and guaranteed to fail.
I'm good like that.
Don't anyone ever let me work on your bikes.

Hi buddy, thought I would give you my answer. I ride a jap bike and can only do the most basic maintenance stuff. I'd score very low on practical abilities or mechanics and the like. I'm not even sure what WC stands for (water closet in French, but I bet no custom bike has one of those!)
Anyhoo, customs not being my thing I would have to stay away from your thread. Nothing personal, you see; I just have nothing to contribute. For what it's worth I don't think I read the Honda thread you mentioned.
Not in IT either.
Signing off from Planet Okey...

Hey as an IT worker and a bike customiser in my spare time (see R1100S and streetfighter in progress :headbang:) I take expection to being labelled as mechanically inept due binary understandings :Oi:.
Just missed both threads  Might have been in the garage at the time!!!

I also work in IT (or computer software to be precise - "Information Technology" is almost an oxymoron), and have owned and fixed bikes for nearly 35 years. But then I'm good with my hands (jack of all trades, and master of baiting...)
