:ar15: Better than what have you owned, what classic, desirable, or just plain horrible heaps have you sent to the great scrapyard in the sky?

Personally, I have totalled only two, but quality over quantity.
1976 BMW R90S, mint in Daytona Orange :o
1995 Moto-Guzzi Daytona 1000, loud exhaust, chipped and lovely. :ar15: :love2:

I bet you lot have sent some nice machines to the crusher !
Come on, own up ! :pinch:

First bike I ever killed was a Honda CG110, piston seperated from the rod...

Second bike I killed was a Yamaha XZ400, rear thermostat seized shut before a long ride... nuff said...

This is going to be a brilliant thread...I can't wait :first:

Me personally, so far, the worst thing I've done, was to flip a B120 across the street on my very first riding lesson. :pinch:

Just my poor old GS500 last November. No pictures as I couldn't hold a camera at the time.

Smashed off the alternator cover, right bar end, right footpeg and mount, fairing, etc, etc. Bloody highsides.

All my other bikes have survived unscathed. Even my trail bikes.

Yeah, but how many bikes have been totally totalled? :spudwhat:

I wrote off my first bike - CB175 - when I T-boned a car. It (the bike) ended up with trashed forks and front wheel (front wheel ended up beside the engine), broken headlight, instruments, etc., wrecked frame, dented tank, and the engine was a bit sad (rocker cover was wrecked when the frame bent and ripped the top engine mount out).
But the guy who bought the wreck totally rebuilt it, and for not much (apart from a lot of elbow grease). He bought a CG175 and swapped bits over, rebuilt the engine (the camchain was knackered, and had eaten some of the engine casting). Ended up not as good as new (as it was now a CBG175), but better than before I trashed it.

Wrote off my VFR750 in 2003, but it was rebuilt by kerryg, as it was almost entirely expensive cosmetic damage. Spectrum said $7800 worth, Kerry said a LOT less than that.

Here are the before and after photos.

RZ250- cooked engine after radiator blew
GPX750R- T-boned by HQ Holden

But to redeem myself, I have resurrected an RZ350 (bought in bits, rebuilt engine, got it going, got sick of noise and viabration, sold it), and a VFR700 Interceptor (bought as VERY ugly rat bike with Le-Pig painted on tank -have no idea why I did it), put fairings on it, painted it and it looked pretty tidy when I sold it)

I have had only one bike totaled, but it was reborn as something else.I don't destroy bikes...I resurect other peoples attempts at bike destruction.Others I pick up and dismember and use the parts in transplant surgery.I see a lot of riders hitting cars - at 18 after hitting my second car I figured I had better keep my eyes open.

Well in 13 months riding....

I have totalled:

-1991 RGV250- Engine seized, didnt grab the clutch, highsided on the motorway... (Has been resurrected though)

-1998 TL1000R- Stone hit chain, chain snapped. 5 grands worth of damage done to the engine (didnt come off though... "phew") (Still getting insurance claim done)

-2005 GSX-R600- Desiel, lowside, post did some damage, but the cartwheels did some more... 10 grands worth of damage (Will be back on the road in 6 months hopefully)

Crashed the RG Multiple times, but only costs at the most, a couple hundred bucks too fix... great bikes those RG's...

ZZR600. I t-boned a daft cow who didn't see me at a junction and lurched right on out. Her back-seat passenger did tho, and admitted as much in front of witnesses at the scene...

I siezed a 350YPVS, but they all do that at 20k miles, so I'm not sure if that counts.

Well... Never actually irreperably destroyed a bike.

Smashed up my GP125 avoiding a drunk driver about 8.00pm in Taita when he came at me the wrong way down the street. I hit a lamp-post on the side of the road. Didn't know much about target fixation back then but on reflection it was probably the lesser of two evils to hit. New front wheel, triples, forks and rotor I was back in business, albeit with a few nasty dents in the fuel tank.

Crashed my IT400 too many times to mention. But gaffer tape held together the plastic I couldn't weld. But hey, it was a dirt bike - whattaya expect?

Lowsided my CB350 three times and highsided it once (Damn skinny tyres). Never caused it enough damage for anyone to notice - but it was a bit of a ratbike.

Wiped out the front end of my fzr (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=3361&highlight=ouch) last year when I lowsided in rush hour traffic. $1100 of parts later its going fine (apart from a slightly warped left front rotor).

Nah, it was put on there by the kind person who scraped the VFR up off the road while I went for an ambulance ride. It was holding sundry broken bits, if I recall.
If it was an airbag, it would've been useless anyway, as I needed one large airbag on each side, deployed before the collision.:argh:

Well lets see, killed the TS185 3 x, but rebuilt it then in the end sold it as a bitza.
blew the innards of an RG to a billion peices, writing the bike off the road.
Need new piston, rings, bearings (all of em), water pump, sleave, head, chamber, power valves....you get the picture - looked like the bike was infected by the ebola virus, ok on outside, mush on inside.
Then my GB, was totalled. Will find the pic. Never ride in the bus lanes folks - cos car drivers only check for buses there.

In my case it's what bike havent i destroyed:

Suzuki GT50: Thrashed, jumped, burnouts, wheelied to withen an inch of it's life, then dismanteld and the engine ended up in a go kart, which again got thrashed, jumped............

Kawa ZXR250: After binning it numerous times, WT finished it's miserable life in a drunken rolling burnout into a seized gearbox effort.

TL1000S: This was the one that got away, lowside at manfeild was as bad as it got for this one, before trading it in.

GSXR600: Owned it from new to four weeks, written off in a big way, repair bill round the $22000 mark, didnt leave much untouched.

TL1000S: After the disapointment of my 1st TL, i lowsided it out in waihi at 90ish kph, then not happy with the effort looped it at high speed destroying it, but not as bad as the gixx, as it will live again, god help us/me.

NSR250SP: Havent riden it yet, but stay posted, i might just kick it over in the garage for good measure.

More to come......................

I had a fairly good go at my MVF4. It was a few dollars away from being written off but got repaired instead. I ended up buying a new Brutale rather than wait 6 months for parts from Italy. I gather the bike has been sold as a project for one of the shops.

Pic attached of it in happier days....

Only as far as the nearest deserted industrial area. :shifty:

Might trailer it so I can get it home in case I blow the tyre.

Anyone one got any hints on how not to incinerate your bike doing a flaming wheelie?

It's a shame the kids are still on holiday, else I'd find some 16 year old school girls to show off in front of. :love2:

Reminds me of Ruapuna - sometimes they have a car engine out there that they drain the oil from, fire up and rev the crap out of it - this goes on all day until it dies. It takes a surprisingly long time to kill it!

This thread should be in the ACC section - the common theme for killing a bike is 'T-bones by a car'

I wrote off my CBX400 when I was checking out some barely dressed women on the side of the road. I hit a trailer when the traffic stopped...
My GSX750ESD was written off when I locked up the front brake and slid it under the car that stopped in front of me... punctured its petrol tank, luckily it didnt ignite.

Those were my only writeoffs, lots of cosmetic damage incidents.

Actually, although two (2) were 'written off', both were resurrected. Also (plus!) I acquired a clapped-out bike and made it moar betterer.
However (but!) despite the thousands I have lavished on it, I have an uncomfortable feeling my current bike is neither improving nor evolving but slowly being destroyed by my mentalness. Bit by bit, item by item, it is slowly devolving into scrap.
