Wonderful.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4696181a12855.html

Title says is all. PC Arseface (actually one Jason Peters) already had two drink drive convictions when he decided to get shitfaced and drive home. Hooning home as only a drink driver would, eventually the laws of statistics kicked in and he went head on into a car coming the other way. Crunch. Tops it off by running away from the scene and hiding behind a tree. Doesn't actually kill one of the passengers, but it does take her two years to not fully recover. Her family were told she was going to die. Oh, and this was two weeks after her honeymoon. Awesome.

He gets a years' home detention. Oh, and $29k reparations of which he actually offered $25k and some cash he has to hand out to insurance companies.

So let's do the math here. A third time convicted drink driver - clearly the absolute dredges of humanity - is let, basically, completely off the hook for $29k. Hmmmmm, four years getting fucked up the arse by Bubba or $29k ... let me think. Pretty good rate, innit? I wonder if I can get a quote for getting caught manufacturing methamphetamine? Like, if I can skip jail and get a years' home detention instead for - say - $50k then from a purely business perspective I'd say we were on to a winner.

Also, what does with the police employing convicted drink drivers? Is this not, basically, the exact opposite of what the police are supposed to be doing.

GNGNGNGNGNNG! Angry again. Oh, and if anyone is wondering what kind of reparations to budget for in case of killing a member of my family, you'll be looking at (say) a half mil and a limb of my choice. That may include your neck.

He isn't a cop, he was once but a long time ago and he would have either left prior to 1998 when he was convicted of drink driving the first time or been sacked by the Police as a result of that conviction. The media just thought it was relevant that he had been a cop some 15 or so years ago, makes a better headline.

But aside from that what an absolute cock and what a ridiculous system we have when it comes to drink driving. Already convicted twice, third time destroys the life of a woman and her family almost killing her, runs from the scene leaving her and his own brother or friend screaming in agony from a broken leg in his own car, is caught hiding by the Police helicopter and then shows no remorse and drags out the process as long as he can claiming that it was poor road design that caused him to crash and he only ran out of 'shock'. Is sentenced to living in the confines of his own luxurious home for 12 months and disqualified from driving for 2 years.

What a kick in the guts for the family and for every other family who has lost someone to a drink driver, shows clearly what value or input the justice system places on the victims in all this.

I stand corrected. Must admit I thought it was a bit strange.

Whilst this is shocking Dave it gets worse, ive seen in our own small town district court 4 and 5 times convicted Dicers still getting PD for fucks sake,no wonder young fellas have no qualms about doing it as theres no real punishment, can only wonder how frustrating coppers find our judicial system.

:gob: What a read...

Arsehole he is... even got the lawyer to spout "shit" for him explaining why he ran FFS...

Unusual the Police chopper went from Auckland to a crash in the Waikato - not far as the bird flies, but good on them for going, as he would have got away with the drink drive part without them finding his cowardly arse.

He would have been arsed out of the job on that 1st conviction, IF he was still in, back in 1998.

Funny how the media make a call over a job he used to do 10 years ago......

Yep - tougher penalties as voted for by over 90% of all voters in the referendum meant that this gubbmint brings in home D and other wussy options - means you need to go through all other options before going to prison first...

Hope the next gubbmint gets hard on shite like this.....

Was this the same 90% that voted for fewer MPs as well??? Hmm.

Drunken idiot smashes into a car, woman he hurt is still majorly messed up two years later. He gets 12 months home detention with Sky TV and a beer fridge.

Where is the justice?

No spare beds in prison I would think. Need to parole a few hardened crims to free up beds for the next batch, obviously.

Dam the law or those that enforce it can be asses somtimes, the sentence is not going to deter anyone.

Does the sensible sentencing trust not operate in NZ now, cause at least the publicity from them used to keep judges honest with there sentencing.

just wondering if somebody would run somebody like jason Peters over....
by accident of course....
would he sentence wise be better of being drunk..or sober?......
You obviously wouldn't have to compensate anybody for "loss".....

Title says is all.

Actually all it says is that the media is full of shit. The guy was once a cop but being now up to his third drink drive conviction you can be sure that he hasn't been one for quite some time. However that doesn't stop the media from taking the opportunity to sling some more shit at the cops and it seems that there are those around that barely ever read past the headlines before forming their opinions.

Good one media- the guy was arsed out of the Police over ten years ago - yet the media still say 'Office given home detention for crash'

How can you believe ANYTHING the media shits out??

Probably... bastards didn't listen, so arse them out any way you can by reducing the numbers of the useless pricks who will not listen...
