Hey guys some of you may remember I was arested because a cop heard my motorbike acelerate at daangerous speed earlier this year, have had my second defendant hearing and was found not guitly due to lack of evidence im glad that I was not put on the stand as I was not interested in answering questions by the prosecutor.

So good out come in all. After spending 6 hours in court we finally got it sorted. Its not just tax returns that goverment agencies are slow with..

any ways back to biking, just have to watch that throtle hand

Please take this with the humour in which it is intended but I found this very funny indeed. I think its not just the heading thats an issue.

Thats the most bullshit reason i've heard for someone getting arrested when riding a bike. More to the point, if a thread was taken from here and used as evidence you should have known about it, any evidence before the courts must be known by both parties - atleast from I know.

Not necessarily R6. I have been on the receiving end of a thread off here being used in a Court with NO notification.

Think from what he said it sounds like he did see it but it was never brought up in court ! Was a gimme that he got off the charge, i'm surprised the judge didn't give the cop a verbal bashing !

Ah yes - back in the old days you could ride past a cop in first gear doing 50ks with a open pipe and just get a shake of the head.

So I have been told.

"sorry M'lud, the bike coughs and splutters at anything other than first gear below 60"...........hmm...this is kinda true.

So he heard a 4cyl 4 stroke two fiddy going through the gears, no speed registered & that went to court? What else were you doing or what were the rest of the circumstances? Sounds a little over the top to me.

Nothing in the thread anyway. Only what was alledged to have happened and advice from then on. Dunno what the point was in having it at court anyway. One can say whatever one wants in here and doesn't mean it is true - more like hearsay which is inadmissable anyway...

And before anyone asks if it was me... AS IF!!!!!!

Yeah IL4 250s with loud cans always sound like you are doing a million miles an hour...

neighbours always gave me ribbons regarding me speeding every day etc, eventually one called the piggys...cops waited over the hill....

Went over in my usual mannor, copper pulls me up, ahh yes i have you at 57kph, okayyy but you guys dont usually ticket until after 10kph over you know discretion etc...

he says oh nono i wont be giving you a ticket

"one of your neighbours rang up actually a few people in the area regarding a bike going like clappers out of this neighbourhood alot, i heard you coming and it sounded like you were going for it, but then could only lock you at 57"

"well yeah its a 250 gotta ring the tits off it to make it go anywhere"

"yeah mate, used to have one myself in my younger days, but had to come check it out under bosses orders, on ya way son..."

:Police:

i was only winding it up to like 8 grand!

redline is 19k!

So what did it cost you in the end - lawyers fees, time off, etc? No wonder the cops can get away with stitching people up, as most cannot afford to defend it.

I know. bollox huh. I heard the cop talking about it when he handed over some papers to the prosecutor. Was eaves droppping... and I was sure I didnt say anything bad ( i didnt ) was just that I mentioned his name. How was I meant to know thats not allowed hah.

Oh well over now :-) Lawyer did her job which was good

It is a public forum and when you use google to search for things motorcycling it does tend to pop up often.

If the constable googled his own name it may have drawn him here and the Thursday night Aucklanders know the police look on here often so I wouldn't go around thinking someone saw the post and sent it to the police. More likely a constable took a look and saw the coppers name and thought "I'd better pass that to him since it just might be one of his cases".

You posted a copy of the letter to the Bureau which had his name on it, seeking advice. Nothing wrong with that.... Good result in the end.

Two points this this comment -

Using names of cops etc is absolutely discouraged (apart from being stupid) .. and when mods are aware of it names are removed.

The other is there are many cops, their friends etc, frequent this site ... it is a public forum as discussed .. and no moves are taken, nor will they be taken, that cops can not frequent this site.

Do you know on what basis that cliam is made? I know of no reason why I am not permitted to say publically "I received a ticket from Constable Plod last night". Or, indeed, "I was arrested by Constable Plod last night".

Indeed the argument that an accused person is not permitted to reveal the name of his accuser comes very close to an introduction of anonymous accusations ("Lettres de cachet") which has always been forbidden in our judicial system
