We're about to give the Kiwi Rider brand a huge upgrade.
Very excitements.

Part of my brief is to set up a facility to enable subscriptions to be purchased online.

I've built a few shopping carts using paypal and was OK with the way it worked.

Be interested in hearing opinions as to how you would do it?

Everyone has a credit card, let them use it, over SSL (i.e. seamlessly to them), and never store the card number (i.e. process it there and then).

It really depends on how far you want your 'e-commerce' to go, if it is just for subscriptions then a simple paypal system would be fine, but if you are looking to get more complex an offer deals/specials and even a shop then I'd go for a full blown e-commerce package, easier to manage the products that way.

paypal would be fine.

I run a buyline service (one of of about 12 approved BNZ resellers) and its a head ache

DPS (like BNZ buyline) is way more secure, and configurable, but you need a confident programmer with knowledge in xml-rpc and soap, as well as ipsec tunnels to the bank.

With paypal, it involves follwoing instructions, and if you use a fairly common app, like oscommerce or some such, its pretty painless (as I'm sure you are aware)

Yeah - you can set the paypal rig up so it's a credit card transaction.
