View Full Version : The BMW contract

What is it with BMW drivers...?
Do they perhaps sign some sort of contract when they buy the car? Something along the lines of:
"I undertake that whenever I drive this car, I will own the road, display a total lack of courtesy for other road users, never look where I am going, ignore all traffic laws and most especially, run over every motor cyclist I see...(or choose not to look at as I proceed into the roundabout right in front of same....)"
In the olden days, VW's used to come complete with a complex - along the lines of "I have to pass everything on the road to prove that just because I drive a VW, I don't have a tiny willy (or bustline or whatever..)....."
Perhaps the BMW thing is a modern day version of the same......?.....:angry2: hmmmm both German cars too....?

OK - rant over - I feel better now....:yeah:...(stupid cow she was and all.....)

I was cruising through the Lindis Pass down south last year, sitting not that far above the speed limit and a Beemer overtook me down one of the straights and chopped me up pulling back in. He then proceeded to crawl through the next sequence of bends, holding me up in a major way so I re-passed him. Same thing happened on the next straight - bloody incredible! Didn't mind being overtaken, but it was the backing right off through the corners that was annoying. He didn't get another chance after that:whistle:

No beemer issues hyar.

A Rav 4 is more likely to be driven by a traffic idiot in my hexperience.

I was driving the Beemer through the Lindis Pass down south last year when I came upon this bike that was dawdling down the road. So I passed him and pulled back in, as you do, then what do you know, he sat on my backside through the bends, blasted past me as we came onto the straight, and then dawdled down the road again. So I passed him, of course, but he did the same bloody thing at the next sequence of bends. Then he passed me and drove off like a complete maniac and I didn't see him again, thank goodness! Must have been showing me how big his willy was.

PS: I hate people driving fast on the straights and slow on the bends, too.

I live in Mangere Bridge; just tonight on my way home from work I ended up lanesplitting between a Rav 4 and a P(eople/I) Mover because they were sitting in both the left and right lanes doing 60kph. In a 100kph zone. Already a few hundred metres from the onramp.

Another Rav 4, a year ago on Queen St, I'm sitting behind -- right rear tyre dead flat, on the rim, still driving merrily along though. Traffic stops, I put bike on stand, walk over, knock on window. Lady nearly shits herself, but eventually winds down window. I ask her if she knows her tyre is flat, she says it's not. I eventually persuade her to have a look, she gets out, says `Oh, I see, I'll ask my husband when I get home,' gets back in the car and drives down and left towards Victoria Park -- not the Harbour Bridge eventually I hoped...?

Don't get me started on locksmiths though.

LOLzer.
You must be like me - I like to (helpfully) point out if people have significantly flat tyres. A few years back, I was going down Onewa Road towards the motorway, and noticed the BMW saloon ahead of me had a very flat right rear tyre. So, I pointed it out to the driver, she nodded dumbly (in hindsight, like she was acknowledging me but the whole concept baffled her), then carried on driving. I thought, "Oh - she's stuck in traffic, and so she's carrying on to where she can safely pull over!"
I then followed her all the way into the CBD. I was VERY disappointed that the tyre didn't roll off the rim going over the bridge at 80km/h. I was looking forward to seeing her car crash/roll/explode into flames/fall into the Waitemata.
I think that perhaps like many immigrants, she was one of those who just get in the car, fill it with gas when it needs it, and anything else is just put in the "too hard" basket. I've seen so many cars parked up on the side of the road with flat tyres. Maybe they just buy a new one...

Agreed... unless the BMW in question is an X5. I suspect the richer RAV4 drivers upgrade to X5's once they've honed their road-owning skillz

Brilliant, we as motorcyclists hate to be stereotyped and here we are doing exactly the same to drivers of certain vehicles.
Treat everyone as an individual in their own right, take them at face value and treat them as you'd like to be treated.........otherwise don't complain when you get lumped in as just another soon to be organ donor.

If you read my original post, you should realise that it is a heat of the moment reaction to a particular driver who just happened to be driving a Beemer....the assignment of the contract idea is a frivilous extension of the annoyance resulting from nearly being run over by this driver. It is not meant to be taken seriously slowpoke - I thought the humourous intention was obvious.....but then I always did have a warped sense of same.......
