Vero - cheap. Never made alciam though so I don't know what they;re like at paying out.

Word of advice before Stadler and Waldorf turn up and start giving you an ear bashing - do a search, I think this topic has been covered a few times.

If I'm wrong - I'll eat my pants. Again.

Everything else we have is with AMI but I have heard they do not insure bikes... AMI are really good to deal with. Had the opportunity when a guy turned thru a red arrow and helped me write off my L200 double cab...

AMI, I will sing their praises. They rock the socks in the kettle party! Ultra helpful, ultra supportive and ultra friendly!

I'm with State.. they haven't been too bad so far, but not claimed on the bike. They made me take content insurance on the house, so that my gear is covered, ironically I was buggled, so that came in handy itself.. I might phone around a bit when it comes up for renewal, but for what it's worth, they've been ok..

Are you saying that AMI will cover motorcycles then?? If so maybe my problem is solved. Wonder if they'll take my no claims thingy I had with Swann into account?

They took my motorcycle. I don't have any other insurance with them. They will either only cover for 3rd party or comprehensive, no 3rd party fire and theft.

Cool I will have to ring them for a quote then - Thanks.

if you have x amount of full years no claims, that should count towards any quote you obtain, regardless of who the insurance was with, and who the quote is from..

I also have most of my insurance with AMI. They are currently doing bike insurance again. A few years ago they dropped it.

Got mine done Oct last year and subsequently wrote it off. After some negotiation with the market value they came thru with a cheque pretty quickly. They have a no claims bonus of 40% max but it drops to 0% if you claim. But you can work back up to 40% after a year of no claims. They should take the no claims bonus from previous insurance history. The other bonus is the $300 excess for over 25's. They only do comprehensive, not third party only. Also only market value not agreed value.

They also will allow you to claim your gear (helmet, jacket etc..) on contents as well. I'm just finalising this claim now. No depreciation on the motorcycle gear (but its only a few months old) but having a discussion re: voucher $'s < cheque $'s. Their excuse is they get a discount with the vouchers but shouldn't I be entitled to the full amount regardless of using vouchers or $'s ?

Aprt from that the staff have been very helpful, friendly and sympathetic.

Apparently, our KX and CRF we thought were both insured for whatever happened to them on the back of the trailer. Our biggest fear was the tie downs failing and the bike/s falling off the trailer. We found out a year later that the bikes are only insured for when the trailer flips over. That was frikken full cover? :argh:

They probably stop doing new policies. I'm fairly sure the reason I went to State for my first bike approx. 10 years ago was because they didn't do bikes at the time. Anyway they do now which is all that matters.

which probably meant that if you asked a bit you could get one, but their first response was no....

I know I know, nitpicking.....
