Call up Swann insurance and ask for Peter Coombe's mobile. He's a really good bloke and a very reasonable assessor.

I'll assess it for you mate.

I reckon we need a long piece of steel tube about 30mm dia, a rubber mallet, socket set, screwdriver set, 2 dozen beer and an evening.

I'll be around in half an hour or so. :niceone:

An insurance assessor will look at the bike and compare to the quote the bike shop gives to see if the quote's fair. They don't usually tell ya what is actually wrong with the bike and what needs fixing.

Your insurer will pay the assessor's fee, if you want someone else to look you'll pay their fee, unless it's not an insurance job and you just want an independent view as to whether the bike shop quote is fair? If so I'd look to another repairer for a second opinion.

Let us know more details, I could possibly rustle up a name or two from our company in Auckland for you.

Yeah - I can see it now...
"you won't need that bit"

"... ummm - that looks fine to me but... I seem to recall you needed one of those...?"

No need for an assessor, MDU.

Rip the bits you need from that shiny RF of Frosty's while he's away. (I call dibs on the Yoshi and the pack rack, but you can grab anything else you want)
